Some bands we've been in:
poison 13, ballad shambles, the horsies, joan of arkansas, the danged, wad, wet, cat scientist, big foot chester, neko case and her boyfriends, various bands fronted by jon langford, etc.
Influences
Hmmmm, that's too tough a question. Instead, this are some folks we've covered: George Jones, Ratt, Velvet Underground, Bill Monroe, Daniel Johnson, Madonna, Boyd Rice, Johnny Paycheck, ABBA, Fleetwood Mac... you put it together.
Sounds Like
Turbonegro, but with some girls. And not scandinavian, gay, or junkies. Also, playing bluegrass. OK, maybe more like ABBA. But with more soap opera, fewer instruments, and no blondes.

The Meat Purveyors started playing together in 1996 and have put out five records on Bloodshot: Sweet in the Pants (1998), More Songs About Buildings and Cows (1999), All Relationships Are Doomed to Fail (2002), Pain By Numbers (2004), and Someday Soon Things Will Be Much Worse! (2006).
Along the way we've toured all over the US and Canada, and even Norway. We have met a shitload of cool people everywhere we've gone.
my housemate needs a ride to austin next week. i am disgusted with the economies (both national and personal) that will keep me from being able to fulfill that role.
I didn't know you went to Norway. I want to go to Norway. Charlton Heston just died, and in Norwegian "heston" means "horse". Long live Charles the Horse. I wonder what "meat" is in Norwegian.
Great interview on IBWIP Bill. I want to catch one of those future, maybe possible reunion shows. I can even bring along my banjo if you want. Have fun with the Daniel Johnston rock opera. Sounds cool.
It's the moment you have all been waiting for... Episode #12 of It Burns When I Pee ! The Valentines Day Massacre is here! We have been gone for almost two months, but we are back to fight the good fight for underground/ Alt-country. On this episode we feature an interview with Bill Anderson (of the Meat Purveyors ). In the interview we talk about his career, the in and outs of The Meat Purveyors, and what he is doing now a days. We are also going to premier our new comedy skit, The Trailer Park Dating Game. This is probably the most extensive skit we have done thus far. The show is as usual filled with music from the likes of The Von Ehrics, Stacy Dean Campbell, Joecephus & The George Jonestown Massacre, OldBoy, Hank Williams Sr, and of course some tunes from The Meat Purveyors. And if that wasn't ENOUGH... we have our pal Jared Morningstar back on the show to read an essay he has written. Of course there is more, but we can't give it away! So come join us at www.section86.com and download the show.
Looking forward to hearing you on IBWIP #12! Here's the artwork freshly finished and coming straight out of Aachey Holler, Germany. Best regards from the Old World, C.M.
