   About The Mediocritist Ensemble
The Mediocritist Ensemble was formed in late 2004 by three of Australia’s greatest experimental new music specialists and multi instrumentalists: Warren Craig - Violin, Trumpet, Piano, synthesized flute and vocals; Olav Matthewsson - Cello, Piano Accordian, Piano, Percussion and vocals; and Lukas McMichaels - Clarinet, Recorders, Guitars, cello, piano and vocals.
Since it’s inception, the ensemble has spread their passion for music right across Australia, thrilling audiences with their new sounds and their sinewy, perceptual performances.
The have received numerous awards, including the converted Golden Arch award for excellence in chamber music performance; the Alan T. L. Jen-Wilkinson award for service to Australian Music for their work in commissioning new works from Australian composers; and in late 2006 they became the resident ensemble with Daylight Robbery Theatricals (one of Australia's three dedicated contemporary Opera Companies).
The ensemble is glad to announce that from 2008 they have secured renowned counter-tenor Wellington Pavior as their guest artist in residence. They are looking forward to a series of concerts featuring this amazing singer.

Hi guys,

I haven't heard from you in a while. How is everything going. Do you have anything much coming up? I heard rumors that you will be recording a CD soon? And is it true that you are going to be collaboration with the counter-tenor Wellington Pavior? He is INCREDIBLE! When, and where will I be able to get one?

Keep us informed. I can't wait to see you guys play again. So inspired.
Alex

Dear Mediocritists,

I love your internalised sono-daliesque aesthetic. It is so post-modern.

Is there any way of seeing you guys in Sydney. There is a big market for this type of performance, and your sound is progressive enough to delight the every hungry inner-city audience. Keep up the good work.

PS I love the clip of music on your site. Maybe one day we might hear an album?

Great to see this tiny snippet of a recording is up. A tour de force as always. Unfortunately I was not able to attend the Lexicon concert due to ticket shortages, (...I must learn to book early!!!) but it is great to hear this excerpt here for prosperity.
I look forward to the next.

Hi all,

Thank you for the ad. It is always nice to see good ensembles who are not afraid to tread a new, and slightly dangerous path starting to make it in the world of contemporary classical music.

Keep up the good work guys and I can't wait to come to one of your concerts and to hear some tracks on the page.

Ciao

P.S. Have you guys played any Niklaus Heinengarter? His stuff is out there, but reminds me also of early Sciarrino. Very beautiful.
