CLASSIC REVIEW OF OUR SECOND GIG IN THE NETHERLANDS! (with some direct translation) FROM 3VOOR12 ARNHEM NIGMEGEN!!!
Fresh Air And Sunshine In A Dark Irish Pub.
The Mekkits and CHSW are happy and without worries!
By Jeroen Rijnders.
After a good gig in the Winston in Amsterdam the previous day, Arnhem is the second town which is visited by the Mancunians during their three date tour in Holland. The Mekkits are a colourful collection of five true English musicians, who are "at home from all markets" [have more than one specialty]. The guitarists also play keys, trumpet and trombone, the singer –who looks like a viking - sings, plays guitar, drums, tambourine and even a cowbell is no unknown instrument to this easygoing band.
The stimulating music "doesn’t let itself place in a booth" [can’t be named after a single type of music]. It tastes like klezmer, rock, ballads, folklore, gypsy, ska and poke. A sort of mix of The Beach Boys, Smashing Pumpkins and Yogi Bear. The misfits of the Manchester scene have freed themselves of all the prejudices of bands from this city and clearly enjoy their musical liberty. The songs have an up-tempo, colourful sound and light-hearted lyrics, loose from all temporary hypes. “They’re not gonna be cool, fuck it! It’s just loads of fun!”, says the manager who has adhd. And that’s what The Mekkits carry out; don’t take yourself and the world too seriously, enjoy and have fun!

Hi guys, i have to say its refreshing to hear something different from the usual stuff thats out there at the moment. Don't know if u agree with me - but right now the market is in desperate need of more variety. I blame it on 2things mainly: Emo & 13year old kids ..maybe its just one thing. I f*****g hope so! Anybody over 13 has no excuse. Anyway my point is KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK & good luck!! Sara x
