Are we the best ‘60s band in the world? Who’s better? Who’s best?
The Substitutes are Melbourne’s most authentic and most exciting '60s band being made up of veteran 60's & 70's musicians who play the best (and the lost gems) of the Kinks, Animals, Small Faces, The Who, Zombies, Easybeats, Yardbirds, Pretty Things, Twilights, MPD Ltd, Loved Ones, Beatles, Stones, et al.
All members of The Substitutes have extensive and credible rock careers as documented in the Who's Who of Australian Rock.
With the four octave range vocals and fluid guitar work of Dennis Millar (ex seminal 70's band Buster Brown and then Nick Charles), Pete Robinson on bass (ex The Strangers and Blacksmith Hopkins) supported by Peter Reed on drums (ex New Dream, Gary Young & Phil Manning bands) and the punk energy of Peter Summers on guitar and keyboard (ex Riverina Playboys and Strange Idols), The Substitutes deliver the goods exactly like the record but with real spirit.
We are Melbourne's best '60s band, bar none!
"Pictures of Lily", "Happy Jack" and "Substitute" all originally by The Who. For heaps more videos click the 'View My Videos' link on the upper left hand side of the screen.

This Thursday, a special event at the Melbourne Festival Fringe Club -
Your favourite all-girlgroup sensation The Rebelles pit their unassailable wall of heartbreak against the leather-clad mythologically inaccurate hair metal of Barbariön: "Early in 2007 Myles-Harald Tauchert noticed that all rock bands were gay. He decided to combine his love of 80s metal and hazardous camp theatrics to create a band of heady excess... who together are BARBARIÖN."
The Rebelles come out fighting at 9.30 - come down and cheer us on.
North Melbourne Town Hall, 521 Queensberry Street, North Melbourne. Entry is free.
