Rollicking twin fiddles and bright country harmonies define the Mercury Dimes, a band of veteran musicians that emerged amid the late-20th-century explosion of acoustic old-time and bluegrass music in San Francisco. The Mercury Dimes were originally conceived as a touring band, and have traveled as far away as France to perform their seductive mix of Appalachian fiddle tunes, old-time ballads, and country blues.
The Dimes are now a musical consortium, with Knoth and Engelberg acting as the core members. Knoth's and Engelberg's contacts in the bluegrass and old-time communities ensure that whether you need a duo or a crazy 6 piece bluegrass band, you'll get the very best talent available.
The Mercury Dimes are still available to enliven your wedding, square dance, coffee house, street fair, party, festival, corporate event, or rock club.

"Ticklin' The Strings" by Sweet Hollywaiians
Amazing Japanese hot string band playing 1920's, 30's, 40's style hawaiian, swing, calypso, blues, italian music and originals, featuring vintage instruments.3 songs with Robert Armstrong and Tony Marcus(from Robert Crumb and His Cheap Suit Serenaders)
"The Sweet Hollywaiians have probably the best feel for this 20's music of any string band working today. They manage the rare feat of sounding relaxed even when their playing is hot, are top notch musicians with tasteful arrangements and a full, rich, warm sound.Plus, they have a nice gamut of tunes, from King Nawahi to Giovanni Vicari to Bobby Leecan. See them live, if you can, for an unforgettable experience. If you can't, buy their Cds!" ~ Terry Zwigoff
