As with a great many musical visionaries, Meridian started as yet another garage band. While balancing the drama and new responsibilities of life as American high-schoolers, guitarist/vocalist Dane Whitley and drummer Tyler Neff began coupling that universal, youthful idealism with melody and rhythm in Neff's garage. Lead guitarist/vocalist BJ Barnes would eventually join, contributing profoundly to the music's identity, energy, and depth.
Ten years and a multitude of personnel changes later, the members have come full circle and have adopted the collective alias now known as Meridian. To complete the sound, the trio enlisted the creative brilliance of bassist Daniel Roach, whose musical element is now integral to the band's unique intensity. The band sound is rooted in years of absorbing and adapting the various genres and sub-genres of rock and roll. The subsequent result is all-American sound focused on capturing the angst and bliss of life in our society. Cleaving this sound to a deeply personal, complex, and fairly verbose lyrical construct are what set this band apart from the rest of the Midwest rock scene.
Meridian has steadily built up a fan base throughout southern Indiana and northern Kentucky and is currently planning to expand geographic horizons, considering all venues and functions that inquire. Studio time has been scheduled and a new demo is expected to be available in February.
