No, I will NOT make out with you! You got Chlorophyll-Man up there talking about God knows what and all YOU can talk about is making out with me! I'm here to learn everybody, not to make out with YOU. Go on with the chlorophyll.

I would love Rick DiPietro even if he was ugly. He just happens to be gorgeous. If he wasnt a goalie, he could be a model- that is how hot he is.
..
..
And Brendan... god. He is gorgeous, a great competitor, and a loving, compassionate husband... he is admirable in so many ways.
..
In mentioning sports Ive got to give some attention to the Mets, as well:
..
..
And here is the best of both worlds... Rick (DiPietro) taking batting practice with the Mets!
..
..
Back to my other interests lol...
Heavy Metal and Hard Rock music, education, science, writing, local and national politics, Citrus Vitamin Water, watching The Simpsons, South Park, Scrubs, guys who smell good when they sweat, men with nice shoulders, time with my friends, going out to eat, a great guitar riff, live shows (I go as often as I can- time and cash permitting!) Thats the basics :)
..
Music
I do love music, it is part of almost everything in my life. Its how Ive met most of my friends... a shared, unrelenting love of music is a bond that drew so many of us together.
Some of my favorite singers include Ronnie James Dio, Jon Oliva, Paul Simon, Don Dokken, Blackie Lawless, Jack Russell, Ozzy Osbourne, Dennis DeYoung, Ann Wilson, Dee Snider, David Draiman, Rob Halford, Bruce Dickinson, Tony Harnell, Joey Belladonna, David Crosby, Mat Sinner, etc. That should give you a little sample of what I'm about.
What music I want to hear depends on my mood. Normally I love listening to great bands like Savatage, Disturbed, The Scorpions, Trivium, Saxon, WASP- good angry sexy metal bands. I love Black Sabbath, Dio, Ozzy solo, Twisted Sister, Accept, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Grim Reaper, Anthrax, King Diamond, Kiss, old school Metallica, Megadeth, Queensryche, Whitesnake, Death Angel, Alice Cooper, etc. I love music that says what it says, yet by the very act of doing so it says so much more.
I love Dokken, Great White, Ratt, Tesla, Winger, Cinderella, Def Leppard, Extreme, Kix, so many other bands! And I am really in to what most of these bands are doing NOW. Seriously, it's not just some nostalgia trip for me. Believe it or not, many of these bands put out some of the best albums of their entire careers in the 90s and 00s. The vast majority of these bands still put out great stuff. We have grown and changed, as have they themselves- and if they are our heroes we OWE them the respect of hearing what they now have to say. I wouldnt want to be judged purely on what I said twenty five years ago, so why do that to them?
I get in to a lot of the bands that made a name for themselves in Europe as well- even the ones that are not from Europe lol. Many of them hold up the proverbial flag for this genre of music. I have to give recognition to great bands like Primal Fear, Sinner, Sinergy, Lion's Share, Iced Earth, Astral Doors, Helloween, Tad Morose, Stratovarius, Edguy, Hammerfall, so many others.
I'm also in to seeing bands like Finding Four, Dead End Kidz, Winterspell, Gothic Knights, Rob Balducci, Hugh Mann and the Beings, Future 86 (formerly Pretty Suicide), Liquid Overload, Saviour, etc. These bands can all be found in my friends list and you really should go check them all out!
I also love bands like The Who and Jefferson Airplane. Styx is great, Heart kicks ass. I love Simon and Garfunkel so much... I own every single song they have ever released and consider Paul Simon one of THE greatest American songwriters of all time. Dylan, CCR, CSN, the Mamas & The Papas, yeah even though Im not a stereotypical 60s type fan I am in to folk rock, too.
I must also confess a real soft spot for tribute bands... I have a lot of fun seeing them. Some of my favorites are Sacred Heart (Dio), Evolution (Journey), Almost Queen (Queen), Who's Next (The Who), Live After Death (Iron Maiden), Iron Priest (guess lol...), Draw the Line (Aerosmith), etc. It's just a good time. Id love to sing in a cover band myself, but it doesnt look like it will ever work out.
Movies
Dances With Wolves, Con Air, 8mm, Fight Club, Batman Begins and its unbelievable sequel, Waterworld, Apollo 13, Seven, 12 Monkeys, I Robot, The Matrix, Clerks II (I love them all, but that movie...) The Cable Guy, Wild At Heart, The People vs. Larry Flynt, Braveheart, Mr. Holland's Opus, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Gone in 60 Seconds, A League of Their Own, Dead Poet's Society, Mystery Science Theater 3000 The Movie, Kingpin, Airplane, The Family Man, This Is Spinal Tap, Awakenings, Casablanca, High Fidelity, Cinderella Man, Blow, National Treasure, Breakfast Club, Grease, Airheads, Fried Green Tomatoes, Gone With The Wind, Titanic, Chasing Amy, Back To The Future (all three, but especially the first one), The Rock, The Wedding Singer, Dogma, The New Guy, Clueless, all the Star Trek movies, Austin Powers 1 and 3, Star Wars (Episodes Five and Three are my favorites!), etc.
Television
..
The Simpsons, South Park, Scrubs, All In The Family, Mystery Science Theater 3000, Futurama, Star Trek Enterprise, Mama's Family, The Carol Burnett Show, Little House on the Prairie, The Colbert Report, The Daily Show, The Honeymooners, What Not To Wear, The Dog Whisperer, MythBusters, Forensic science detective shows, and absolutely anything on The Science Channel. Unless Im watching something specific I usually just leave on The Science Channel or Comedy Central... or I am watching the Islanders!
Books
Any books by people like Daniel Dennett, Christina Hoff Sommers, Diane Ravich, etc. I read almost all nonfiction books. I love to read about science and its implications, historical and current politics, social conditions, philosophy, and topics like that as opposed to fantasy and the like. Even in my most creative moments my writing and poetry still have an historical, nonfictional, or autobiographical air to them.
Some of my favorite quotes...
"To punish me for my contempt for authority, fate made me an authority myself." -Albert Einstein
"You cannot teach a man anything; you can only help him discover it in himself." -Galileo Galilei
"A teacher is one who makes himself progressively unnecessary." -Thomas Carruthers
"New Feminism emphasizes the importance of a woman's point of view, while Old Feminism believes in the importance of a human being." -Winifed Holtby, 1926 (and her words ring with more truth as the decades pass...)
"Don't get into the bra-burning, anti-man, politics-of-orgasm school," Betty Friedan (former president of NOW, believe it or not!)
"Women's intellect is manifested as perfect control, presence of mind, and utilization of all advantages." -Friedrich Nietzsche
"I scored 573 goals in 10 years... there weren't any goalies I couldn't handle." -Mike Bossy
"Perhaps the most valuable result of all education is the ability to make yourself do the thing you have to do, when it ought to be done, whether you like it or not." -Thomas H. Huxley
"I never think of the future - it comes soon enough." -Albert Einstein
"That which does not kill you makes you stronger." -Friedrich Nietzsche
"The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and science." -Albert Einstein
"To know that we know what we know, and to know that we do not know what we do not know, that is true knowledge. -Copernicus

"Good teaching is one-fourth preparation and three-fourths theater." -Gail Godwin
"It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it." -Aristotle
"It is only the ignorant who despise education." -Publilius Syrus
"Education has produced a vast population able to read but unable to distinguish what is worth reading." -G.M. Trevelyan
"I know not with what weapons WWIII will be fought, but WWIV will be fought with sticks and stones." -Albert Einstein
Heroes
I can think of two characters worth mentioning here. Oddly enough, they are both cartoons:
..
I identify with Leela in many ways. I dress like her. She is stubborn and hates to be told that she is wrong. She explains things too much. She will risk anything for her friends, because they are her family. Leela is successful and loved, yet she is lonely. Leelas romantic life is a paradox- she doesnt want the ones that want her, and she wants the ones that dont get her. Upon reflection, Leela just cant figure out why she isnt girlfriend material. She tells herself it doesnt matter, and most of the time it really doesnt. At least she has friends who love her for exactly who she is.
..
Ms Edna Krabappel, Bart's 4th grade teacher from The Simpsons. Even though I am no longer a teacher (I stopped teaching in 2005) I still identify with her in so many ways.
Ednas school never gave her what she needs to be a great teacher. She cares, she really does- but she grew cynical about the system. She doesn't even have enough textbooks for her kids and has to use a freebie Periodic Table from Oscar Meyer to teach science lessons. Edna is quite bitter about the state of education in America. Edna has to work hard to try to keep the enthusiasm that remains, and not see it worn down just because the system itself sucks. She is frustrated by how little of a crap her students give about their own education. Edna's students care about her, even if they give her shit for no good reason. Edna also smokes too much.
In her personal life, Edna has been screwed over and just wants to rock out and be loved. She is frustrated that there is NO man in Springfield that understands her and can give her what she wants.
But Edna is also a true rocker! Whenever a great tour comes to Springfield, Edna is right there- dressed the part and ready to party. I love that chick.
Edna is ME.
Edna was also the name of my beloeved grandma- the coolest, most magical person I have ever known. She will always be my hero and will forever be the sunshine of my life.

Ive wanted a cover band for a while but cant find the right people. The idea is to cover Dio, Saxon, Sabbath, Priest, Accept, Savatage, Scorps, WASP, TS, maybe Ratt, Dokken, etc. Interested? Oh well I tried lol. Im a pretty good singer though! :)
About me:
I confuse people, but what can I say? I hate to fight but love to argue, I love being a woman but hate feminism, I love animals but hate PETA, Im fascinated by politics but refuse to be part of a political party, Ive studied theological philosophy but I don’t like organized religion, I love cute little skirts but Im one like of the guys wearing an Islanders jersey, I organize every folder in my computer but ignore the papers on my desk, Im laid back and I yearn to forgive you, yet people worry what will happen if I get really mad, I want to be loved yet I push away those who really try. I make sense to me, but... I doubt theres anyone who wants to make the effort to truly figure it all out for themselves and deal with that.
I love to go out and have a good time with my friends, that really is the essence of life. There is nothing I will not do for my friends and family... I will put myself on the line any time if it means looking out for them, speaking out when I think they might get hurt, offering to help them whenever I think I can. It gets me in trouble but I swear I don't care. As long as I know I'm doing the right thing it is worth it- because I am the one that looks at my face in the mirror every day, nobody else.
On a lighter note, I love guys who are in to BEING guys. People misinterpret that all the time. Simply put, I dont want one of those "Look, I dont act like a guy" types. I am secure enough with myself not to be intimidated by men who act like men. I grew up in a house with two males and me, some of my best friends are men, I usually spend more time relatively communicating with men rather than women, I am simply comfortable around masculine energy. Its not that I like insensitive jerks, not at all- that is NOT what it means to be a man, anyway. The men I know and love, my friends, family, they are the farthest things possible from that. I am powerful enough not to ever feel or be overshadowed by masculine energy-indeed, it is instead both a comfort and a compliment to me. The females that I am close to understand this, and in many cases they share it, as well... therefore, they understand an important part of me. I am a very lucky person to have the friends and family that I do... they will always have my love, and I am comforted by the knowledge that they themselves know that is not an easy gift to give. At least, not for me.
I’m an intelligent person and I like talking to other intelligent people. I am lucky to have friends and family who embody individual brilliance. I admire the ways in which each of them shine. I think part of loving someone is seeing something in another person that you truly admire.
Though I’m not structurally religious, I hold strong allegiances to certain things. I am a spiritual, and I revere humanity as a species... far too often we look at whats wrong, but there is so much more, there is a true beauty that is so obvious and apparent that we tend to take it for granted and overlook it. I am proud to be part of the metal community, proud to be American, and proud of my Germanic and Celtic heritage. I believe in the existence of a true power that is inside of all of us... call it our humanity, a fundamental connection between all of us that goes far beyond the fluid, changing elements of culture and custom- it is something more primal, more basic, more important. Its there, and the more of it we strive to understand, the better off this world will be. I'm not there yet, I think few if any of us are, but the pursuit itself should be both valued and savored.
Who I'd like to meet: I AM TheMetalChick... if you see that name posting on message boards, its very likely to be me. At least, message boards that you sign in to which register and save names. :)
Friends, old and new, go ahead and add me. Anyone who knows me from message boards, just let me know who you post as on the boards if your nym isn't listed on your profile. But, if I have never met you or talked to you before, it is always nice to get a message telling me who you are. Im not saying it just to make you write, its simply because I honestly ignore my friend requests for the most part. I am not doing that to be a jerk, I just go through phases where I dont want even look at it all. If you want to be friends on here and I havent added you, write to me- let me know who you are, and we will talk... Im not trying to be a jerk, I promise. :)
As far as who I would LOVE to meet in real life, that would be: Nicolas Cage, Bill Ward (the only one of the first six members of Black Sabbath that I have not met as of yet!), Stephen Hawking, Michael Nelson, Christina Hoff Sommers, Bill Corbett, Matt Groening, Paul Simon, Art Garfunkel, Brad Pitt, Ann Wilson, Rick DiPietro, Paul Newman, Brendan Witt, Kevin Costner, etc. It's a little too late, but if time travel were possible I would have to add in Thomas Jefferson, Criss Oliva, Leonardo DaVinci, John Adams, Elvis, Herod of Alexandria, Randy Rhoads, Imhotep, King Solomon, Plato, Ramesses II, Napoleon, Einstein, Socrates, etc. It all goes back to the same thing... these are people who are so admirable, so beautiful, for so many different reasons. I would love to just listen to them and understand them better.
Hey Chris The Metal Chick, it was very cool hangin out and talking with you during Tyketto's set last night! I thought they sounded very tight, esp. during Wings & Burning Down Inside. Rock on & all the best........
YEAH!!! You know EXACTLY what I'm saying, Metalchick!! SAXON, next tuesday at B.B's? Sweet! You know I've never seen them live before...but that's gonna change...you wanna know why? (heh heh) Er....'cause my band SAVIOUR is actually sharing the stage with them (opening up for them) at this little gig here...check this..

Just so you know, I am getting help, I am currently in a detox type of facility and I am showing vast improvement. In fact, the carpal tunnel syndrome in both of my hands and wrists have shown at least a 60% regeneration! I have attached a photo of me in the midst of my transformation.
