   About Metropolitans
A Brief History:

Metropolitans formed in September 2006, inspired by an ambition to re-introduce originality and talent to the Pittsburgh music scene; a scene long in need of a renaissance.

Metropolitans is a blend; a fusion of musical backgrounds, techniques and personalities. Sound, skill and style come together to create this distinctive and energetic pop/rock ensemble.

It is with mixed motions and after much debate that it has been decided the Metropolitans will disband (pun intended). We had a good go and are tremendously thankful to all of you who have so loyally supported us throughout the years. We wouldn’t have enjoyed everything nearly as much without people like you, people with whom we have so openly shared our music, experiences and emotions.

Speaking personally, I feel incredibly honored to have had the privilege of playing with everyone in the Metropolitans, including those who have come and gone and, inadvertently, made us the band we were; a band who always had a good time on stage, who always did things for themselves regardless of the scene, a band that was able to relate personally with humor, intelligence and an overall appreciation for music. These are the things I will miss the most. Life’s priorities will constantly be changing and I hope that music, despite it changing priorities for many of us, will always be an integral part of our lives and the people that we've inspired or simply entertained along the way.

To quote one of my favorite authors, Dr. Hunter S. Thompson, who was obviously not referring to the Metropolitans but is meaningful to me nonetheless in this instance, "We had all the momentum; we were riding the crest of a high and beautiful wave…with the right kind of eyes you can almost see the high-water mark -- the place where the wave finally broke and rolled back." It is that part of the wave, the crest, that people usually remember the most prominently, but I can say that I will assuredly remember everything about the wave that was the Metropolitans.

On a side note, we have a lot of CDs that could possibly be quite rare in the near future. Please contact us if you are interested in taking home a little souvenir. It’s not as historically-symbolic as a piece from the Berlin Wall, but I’d say its pretty damn close.

-Seth

Mark Dignam has been bumping into Paul Luc and Ben Shannon a lot, at Treelady Studios, where they are all working, on their upcoming albums. They admire each others work so much, they decided to put together what promises to be, a mini singer/songwriter festival.. Watch for special guests and a very memorable night at The Rex Theater, 1602 East Carson Street. Pittsburgh, PA 15203. 8pm. $10.

*note from Cy-Fi* Let me know what you think, I put a lot of time into recording and mastering this.  If nothing else it's good new music provided free to every one's economically raped lives.
So here's a recording of my latest set (played at American Gothic in Ohio). Style: Psychedelic Goth.  You can view events I've been involved with on myspace.com/DjCyFi
