Is finally and permanently discredited and abandoned Everywhere is war, me say war
That until there are no longer first class And second class citizens of any nation
Until the colour of a man's skin Is of no more significance than
the colour of his eyes Me say war

The Mickey Finns have a unique and wholly original sound....Start with Ray Kelly’s cigarette scratched and whiskey soaked voice...add his high energy, acoustic-punk guitar. Then add the wonderboy fiddle of Matt Mancuso..a technical genius with amazing taste, licks, and a great vocalist, as well. Mix in the funky world percussion of Brian Tracey and you’ve got The Mickey Finns....Upbeat, acoustic/punk, energetic, original & traditional Irish...all with an irreverant touch. Knockout Irish Music at it’s best!!!

Poem 162 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (please see my blog): TEES TO TYNE: FIRST IMPRESSIONS - SUMMER 2001
Where traditions are not so rare; Sea, country and works scent the air; A multitude of monuments, Planted tubs and patterned pavements.
The longish pedestrian malls; The remnants of defensive walls; Historic buildings are a gauge Of the respect for heritage.
Wheat, rape and pines in the fields; Estuaries guarded by shields; Long sandy beaches and wide scenes; Romantic-ruin go-betweens.
Rivers in parts licked by trees, Or fringed by boat clubs, wharfs, gantries, And crossed by practical delights - Varied spans, forming pleasing sights.
Fine churches headed at Durham; Football kits ad infinitum; Kept castles - one for study; Masonry behind masonry.
And, with moulding-works out that way, It’s somewhere for a longer stay..?
I feel I must correct what you said last night. Uhm...I mean this morning. I did not "single-handedly ruin Irish fest". I single-handedly made Irish fest memorable...again! Next time, there might be more whiskey, and it may come out earlier. What do you have to say about that?
Hey just finished listening to some of the new songs and I LOVE THEM really sounds GREAT!!!! makes me miss you all and the old days so much more...hugs
Love the new tunes. I started to get sick with anticipation for some new Finns. They don't even sound too rough. Looking forward to the whole sha-bang. I wanna be the first to buy it.
What the heck happened to the Finns? Where you guys been? You're not at the Dublin Irish Fest this year? I was looking forward to introducing our livers.

Poem 2 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (please see my blog): WALKABOUT WITH MY PEN
Once drove an old sedan, up north, From a place in Sydney to Cairns; Then to Kuranda I went forth, By train, to look without set plans.
I browsed through the trendy market, With fresh fruits of tropical kind; Walked to the creek through lush thicket - Nature’s hand giving peace of mind.
I dined in a scenic cafe; Then, outside, as I wrote for yen, Some passing Kooris called-out: “Hey, You go walkabout with your pen.”
Request or question, I don’t know - Assured voices, elderly men. That’s now several years ago, And I’ve seen the world - with my pen.
I hope you make your way back to Indy soon. I couldn't make it to your show at the Ace in February and I was really bummed! Hope you guys aren't getting your sexy selves into too much trouble! ;-) Loves to you all!!!
Good to see you guys again, albeit briefly! After about 15 pints before/during the Ranger game, the bar was spinning. Very old school. What can I say, I've lost my fastball ;( Anyway we'll give you a shout when the CD drops, we'll have a right session altogether... best, TD
