Slinger Francisco, better known as The Mighty Sparrow, affectionately dubbed, The Birdie is the unrivaled Calypso King of the World, with a career that spans over 40 years and counting. This artist par excellence has earned his rightful place as "King of the Calypso World" by defeating every other competitor/pretender to his throne. He has entertained audiences across the globe, including, the Caribbean, Europe, Asia, Africa, North and South America, to name but a few.

So this is a tribute page, no direct contact with The Calypso King of the World here. I am no calypsonian, not from Trinidad and Tobago, but a Oregon native trying to get The Mighty Sparrow into your heads.
I have grown to admire people of immense talent that focus their abilities in the direction of aiding the progression of society. The Mighty Sparrow has done that for nearly 50 years now, and where as most take a somber or stern tone in addressing the ills of the world around them, or offering up what they see as solutions, Sparrow's lyrics are found in the company of endearing brass, infectious beats and rythms and are comprised with wit and humor.
