The Mike Kaylor Band brings high energy blues in both original and cover songs. The band is centered around Mike “Big Kat” Kaylor, a recording artist from Tennessee who came to Denver to be closer to his family.
In Tennessee, Mike recorded three albums under the SOR record label, he was “1997 New Southern Blues Talent of the Year” according to Real Blues Magazine, and his song “Still a man” is in the top 100 Blues Songs of All Times according to Red Rooster – KBCO. This is what Real Blues Magazine has to say about Mike:
“It’s not often that we come across an artist whose songs are so original, and whose sound is so great (both vocally and technically) that when we do, it is a definite thrill and truly exciting. When an artist comes across so effectively and with such musical characteristic ability insofar as combining numerous genres that effect an inimitable signature style, to say that genius is at work here is an understatement.”
Not surprisingly, Mike recorded with greats such as Bob Britt (John Fogerty), Johnny Neal (Allman Brothers), Jack Pearson (Allman Bros) and Pat Buchanan (Hall & Oates).
Here in Colorado Mike has surrounded himself with talented players that back him up with tight grooves and give him the ability to shine and do his magic. On lead and rhythm guitar & vocals is Eef, a native from Amsterdam that plays soulful licks and has international stage experience. On drums is David Petry, also an ‘international cat’ that keeps that pocket grooving. If he is not available the band finds subs in Mike Whited and Brian McClure. The bass players rotate on availability basis and are David Foret, Joe Pacheco and Pablo, all seasoned players that also help out on vocals.
Mike is a true professional on stage, as well as in the recording studio and in his songwriting. You will instantly love his high energy tunes, soulful voice and great personality. This is one of the best blues acts in the Denver Metro area.
