I'll bet you've never heard Shawn Lane's
attempt at a product 'commercial'! I had the pleasure of working with him
on one in 1985. To hear this 'rare' track, please visit link to: Mike
Strickland & Shawn Lane's recording of this.
Background picture: 1977 Gold Trimmed Gibson Les Paul Custom.. which I got from B.B. Cunningham of HOMBRES fame (Let It All Hang Out). Check out the autograph! Picture taken by J.T. Schlichter - 2007.
Mike Strickland is: Entertainer – Musician – Teacher - Poet - Actor - Writer - Producer - Engineer - Publisher - Artist
Some of the insturments Mike has played and that have actually made him money are: Guitar – Bass - Keyboards - Harmonica - Vocals
Mike grew up in Memphis, started playing music before he could walk.. OK, at age 9. Many of Memphis's premiere guitar/bass players learned their chops from Mike.
Mike is single and helped raise 5 children - 3 boys and 2 girls. (None of which play any music!)
For fun he likes to play music and work in the yard.

I know this is crazy and I really shouldn't be asking you, I feel shy, but I want it so bad. Don't get me wrong, it's just that I haven't had it for a long time. I could already feel it going in so hard and coming out so soft and wet. No one has to know about this. I need it. I'm desperate, but your help can be very grateful. You must think I have a lot of nerve asking you for this (and putting this on your comments), but I can feel my tongue around it, sucking all the juice out until there is no more left. This has been on my mind all day long, and I hope I'm not being forward. I'm usually not like this, but ............... can I have a piece of gum???
Today (Wednesday 6-25-'08) Tommy Hoehn, Wally Ford & Mike Strickland, each respected songwriters on their own, teamed up for the very 1st time for a song writing session. A song has been birthed I'm happy to say! The 'tentative' title is HOME. All 3 had a hand in construction, arrangement, structure & key, etc. While the lyrics are still in the 'finding' stage, I.E., some (if not most) of the ideas for the words are near to being completed, the groundwork is finished.
After a 'lil spit shining for quality.. can the the rest be anything less than history?
This should be groundbreaking news to anyone who's ever heard of any of these 3 artists!! More L8R!!!
That's Great ... Glad to hear about it. I know a some of Tommy Hoehn's music, Ric Steff has done some session work with him and I heard some of his music back then ...I 'll be looking forward to the new tunes.
Well my friend you may call me either, it has been over thirty years since I used my nickname. I do recall visiting you at Bahama Breeze and hanging out a little. I hope your upcoming shows go well. If at all possible I will be there. Do you still sing along to "Hitchin a Ride?"
