  • Bio

We are 'The Milkmen'!! A three piece acoustic groove rock band Based in Milton Keynes, England Meet the Band - Conor Mcloughlin (24) is the Front man/Songwriter, he plays acoustic and electric guitar and he is the lead vocalist. He was born in Milton Keynes, England. Elliot Careswell (24) is the bass player and backing vocalist. He was born in Manchester, England. Jonathan Riviere (28) is the drummer, percussionist and also does some backing vocals. He was born in Paris, France. The Style - The Milkmen are difficult to fit into one genre. They have been called many styles from acoustic groove rock to blues and roots to melodic lyrical rock or even new acoustic because the acoustic guitar drives the sound. Conor also plays clean and distorted electric guitar on some songs so they can't just be called acoustic anymore as every song is a different style to the next. The Milkmen don't have a set style because they aren't just one style. 'Genres are boundaries'. The Milkmen are a band for everyone because everyone likes different music. With no offensive language, they bring in fans of all ages and almost every song contains a positive message relating to true life experiences that anybody can relate to. Their main musical influences consist of Dave Matthews Band, Glen Hansard (The Frames and Swell Season), Mumford and Sons, Incubus, Ben Harper, Jack Johnson, David Gray, Kings of Leon, The Kooks, Kasabian, Oasis, The Beatles and many more. The Story - In early 2006, Conor Mcloughlin and Elliot Careswell, two childhood mates were both pursuing their music careers at Leederville Central TAFE. They were given an assignment to write a few songs and perform them in front of the whole music department. This was the birthday of 'The Milkmen'. Since then they have been writing music and started working towards getting a band together. They have been playing gigs around Fremantle and Northbridge but have also made it out to Margaret River Settlers Tavern, Gnowanagerup Hotel and Moora. The Milkmen supported Perth band 'End of Fashion' as part of the Australia Day Celebration at Langley Park Foreshore in early 2008. In late 2008 Elliot found their new drummer Jonathan Riviere, he was playing a small gig at a Perth university in his mates' reggae band. Jonathan cleaned up a lot of the rhythm section and brought the feel that The Milkmen were looking for. The Milkmen have also had one of their earlier songs (Every Corner) played on 96fm's 6 o'clock rock report and were interviewed by Gavin Miller in 2007. They have written all together nearly 100 Original songs. They have been keen to get in some good band comps to help their career. The Milkmen played at 2007 Royal Show Coca Cola 'Be the Band' Competition and it was a great way to make a name for themselves. They pushed to get in some more band competitions. With their new drummer Jono, 'The Milkmen' were ready to step up. In April 2009 'The Milkmen' walked away with $15 000 in cash and prizes after winning the Rockingham Hotel Battle Of The Bands, they had lots of newspaper exposure and considered it to be a great success. They recorded their EP 'Always Deliver' at Satellite Studios Burswood July 2009. Their song 'Who We Are' from the Ep also featured on a compilation CD. Acoustika Vol 19 (272 Records, Hollywood, USA) was released November 30th 2009. 'Always Deliver' is now available for preview on their Myspace website -(www.myspace.com/themilkmenband ). It is also available for download from numberonemusic.com/themilkmen Early August 2010 The Milkmen recorded their brand new album 'The Man with the Plan' at Poonshead studios in East Fremantle with Rob Grant. This album was launched 15th October 2010. 'The Man with the Plan' has now been generating quite a bit of interest. Following the release the album was sent to Radio Fremantle on which they played a track that night and got The Milkmen in for and interview a couple of days later. 5 tracks of the new album were played on air that night and they performed two tracks live on the air. The title track 'The Man with the Plan' has already been featured on their second compilation CD titled 'Rocky Blues Volume 4' – Bluetongue Records (Kwinana, Western Australia). Also 'Like A Drug' has been featured on 'Acid Tapes Vol. 5' compilation CD, released in May 2012 - Down load here for FREE - http://www.offtherecord.cc/acid-tapes-vol-5/ Late November 2011, The Milkmen walked away with first prize after winning Avon Rock 2010 band competition in Northam. Their prize was 8 hours recording at Satellite Studios with Darren Halifax and $1000 music voucher for 'Music Park'. 'The Milkmen' went back into the Studio on 2nd March 2011 and recorded two brand new tracks 'A Better Life for us to Live' and A Picture of You', available on numberonemusic.com/themilkmen. Even more impressive was their achievement in getting to the top 8 of the 170 Perth bands who entered the Mix 94.5 FM Bon Jovi support band comp. The Milkmen live for their music and want to take it as far as it will take them. They are very keen to take it to the next level and get their music heard by as many people as possible. Now living in the UK 'The Milkmen' hope to build their UK profile and make the right connections needed to become professional musicians.. "We're all about good music with captivating lyrics"

The Milkmen Review by Christine Chong

The Milkmen are a very unique band I came across recently, that really caught my attention. The reason being that the first song of theirs I heard was a live acoustic version. I haven’t heard a new band in so long that delivered a live acoustic tune, quite like they did, so professional and you can feel their passion for music the more you listen to them. Vocals and backing vocals worked very well together and the guitar, bass and drums worked harmonically well together. Rocking tunes delivered by this Australian 3 piece band, time and time again. It’s hard to put this band in one genre, which is always a good thing, they seem to have all the good aspects from bands old and new, rolled into one.

When I listen to The Milkmen I feel each song is different yet I feel I know it already because they are just so catchy, songs just get stuck in my head all day. The Milkmen are definitely a band to look out for and worth giving your time to check out. They are coming to the UK in 2012 to really make a go of their music career, any band that has the ambition and courage to take such big leaps gets my vote. I hope to be hearing a lot more from these guys.
