About me:

Who I'd like to meet:

Interests

  • General

    I have a personal website: www.RussLindquist.info

I am quite the minimalist. Most of the time, if I am wearing clothes, it is only to be polite. In some ways, I am more conservative and disciplined than most people who consider themselves conservative or disciplined; but I am also more liberal and "open-minded" than most people who consider themselves liberal or open-minded. I enjoy life more than most people I have met. My trick is living consciously, humbly, and assertively. I recommend it! ;)

    Quotes

"If we don't believe in freedom of expression for people we despise, we don't believe in it at all" - Noam Chomsky

"Becoming angry is easy; but being angry with the right person, to the right degree, at the right time, for the right purpose, in the right way - that is not easy." - Aristotle (paraphrased)

"Modern medicine is a negation of health. It isn't organized to serve human health, but only itself, as an institution. It makes more people sick than it heals." - Ivan Illich

    Music

Besides some specific exceptions, I prefer a music-less environment. That being said, I play some drums, plenty guitar, and a little piano. I have a ton of songs... two tons.

    Study

I know a bit of several languages: Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, German, and a little French. I aim to learn them all; but, for now, Spanish is the priority. Additionally, I aim to learn Arabic and Japanese. After Spanish, my next priority is actually Arabic, for the sake of politics.

    Books

I've read plenty, especially classical philosophy. However, as with music - I usually prefer doing without. Too much books is no better than too much television. As Schopenhauer said: "Reading is a poor substitute for living" (I'm paraphrasing). On second thought, though... he did say that in a book ;)
