We're not all just punkfuzzcountrypop and lemonade. We're also helping save the whales. How? Just like all musicians - in C Major. Check out our track on the new campaign by Project551.org and upload your whale tail when you're at it!
Genre doesn’t mean a whole lot to The Mischief, dolled up in Nashville throwbacks, armed with a shallow background in musicianship and turning up to their gigs with their gear packed in pilfered shopping trolleys, they seek to inspire interest, surprise and confusion. Meeting through an attractive sister and sharing a mutual appreciation for Ricky Gervais and home cooked meals, The Mischief set about playing music that valued craft in its creation and frivolity in its performance. Taking their cues from 60s beat pop, Johnny Cash and The Violent Femmes, they have carved out their own niche by plying their concoction of punkfuzzcountrypop around Sydney for the last couple of years.
They won the 2008 NSW MTV Kickstart Competition and have played shows with Little Red, The Fumes, Rocket Science, The Kill Devil Hills, Cloud Control, Philadelphia Grand Jury, Cuthbert and the Nightwalkers, Deep Sea Arcade, The Jezabels and Bird Automatic as well a performance at the 2008 Peats Ridge Festival.
