the Misconceptions formed in 2002 as a meeting of the minds and pens of Nathan A. Roberts and David Rossmer. These two equally creative and talented men decided that they needed to give the world something new. Nathan and David, both veterans of the theatre, had such similar musical interests and the ability to combine them into spectacular finished products, that it wasn't long before "something new" became much, much more. What they wanted was a fun, pop band where everyone sings, everyone had a chance to contribute, and everyone "Got it." After a few weeks of work, "Carnival Rock," as it would eventually be called, would be born.
David had been playing with a band in New York City but had been writing music and lyrics by himself and was looking for someone to share it with. Nathan, also ever-creative, was also writing and searching for someone to take his ideas and run with them. When they realized what eachother wanted to do, beverages were consumed, ideas were exchanged, lyrics were written, and it was obvious that the next step was to find a band.
David knew George Konidaris since grade school and had kept in touch with him as both had moved from New Jersey to the City. George, an established blower of many horns and singer of many songs, was quick to sign on for this new musical endeavor.
Drummers are easy to find. Solid drummers that sing and aren't big pains in the ass are a little harder to find. Nathan, David, and George found Kevin Adams. {You can make your own joke here.} Nathan and Kevin had played in a band during their college years and Nathan knew that Kevin would be quick to jump aboard.
The lineup was soon completed by Brian Crotty, who both Nathan and Kevin had previously known. Brian was an interesting story. Starting off as a metal head and discovering jazz in college, Brian could play it all. It just so happened that "someone who can play it all" was in the Misconceptions' job description.
Eventually the band needed a name. Many were thrown around and just as quickly shot down, but during a rehearsal the most obvious one stuck. However, it was really confusing, and it became the name of the first album instead. With an album of all new material coming soon, THE MISCONCEPTIONS look to end any erroneous notions about their place in rock 'n' roll.

I'm a student at W&M, and my boyfriend found your CD last semester while searching for recordings of our choir. We both fell in love with your music, but I have always wondered what your connection to the school is. Did one of you go here?
Hey there! You guys rocked the Hardbean Friday night. It's a damn shame it's closing. I've never heard anything quite like the brand of music you fellows dished out though, and I really dig it. Hell, I didn't know recorders could be played like that! I'll keep checking up on where your next gigs are. Can't wait to see you play again!
