Raised in Santa Anita, Jalisco, and moved to California at 11. A teen quebradita dancer, Lucina joined Los Cenzontles at 15 where she developed a passion for traditional zapateado whose revivals she has played a major role as dancer and instructor.

On los senn-sont-less Lucina wrote half of the musical tracks which she describes as “the reality of life.” She says "Adjusting to a new life in the United States when I was a teen presented me with both challenges and opportunities. Music and dance have been my ways to discover who I am and how I fit in the world.”
