WE ARE INFLUENCED BY A VARIETY OF MUSICAL STYLES. Genres like post-hardcore, grunge, math-rock, reggae ,noise and free-jazz inspired us to want to play music. We try not to stick to one particular style: in order to keep ourselves and our audience intrested, constant progression is vital. The artists that have influenced the present sound of the modus vivendi are mainly : FUGAZI, EX-MODELS, TORTOISE,THE EX, BATTLES, HOOVER,UZEDA, CAPTAIN BEEFHEART,TEN GRAND.

The Modus Vivendi (pl, modus vivendi - A manner of living; a way of life) formed in 2003:Formed by four friends, and fualed by a passion to knock drinks out of peoples hands! We wanted to create a sound that encorporated all of our music influences, but was still unique, and refreshing. its sounds like a cliche, but we mean it! we try and merge spikey, dischordant, raw guitars, with rolling, colossal drums and thick ,aggressive, Uzeda-esque basslines.Dual spazzy vocals make up the outfit, and an electric live show, filled with hyper aggression, and spontaneous 'back-bending' is what keeps things exciting for us, and the audience. We have recently finished our 3rd e.p," you are the wooden spoon, i am the casualty",which is available from all of our shows. We are looking to tour the u.k this year. If anyone out there likes our material, and is able to help us with shows, please message us, WE WILL PLAY WHERE EVER THERES SPACE! x
As you may or may not be aware SoundARC hold a charity gig every year at Club 85 in Hitchin in aid of the Garden House Hospice in Letchworth, and this year we are going to try something a little different from previous years.
This year we are going to take over the club and host 37 acts in one weekend putting full bands upstairs and acoustic acts downstairs in an event that we are calling ARCfest!
It all starts on Friday 4th December at 7pm and then continues on through Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th from 12pm-11pm
As well as raising money for the Garden House Hospice in Letchworth, ARCfest will showcase all the different genres of bands that we at SoundARC have come across over the last 4 and a half years. Over this weekend a lot of the acts that you will see don’t get a chance to play a great local venue like Club 85, So as well as hearing new music you will see all manors of genres and styles from acoustic - Metal - Indie - Rock - Punk - Electro - Ska - Funk - Hip Hop/Rap - Alternative - Rhythm & Blues - Reggae - Grunge and loads more that I cant remember!

Here are the dates (more to be confirmed).
See you out there x
"NIXA possess a quality that sets them apart from other front runners on the alt/rock scene with perfect dynamics and incredible song craft. They bounce between gentle and aggressive in a single beat, tied with soaring harmonies and mesmerising stage presence. This band will find themselves being listened to by a wide audience, no doubts in both the alternative and commercial rock scenes" TOTAL ROCK
"...done very, very well. Deep, powerful voice, BIG music and just the feeling that something very professional is happening -I don't mean in a clinical way, just in that way that, when you find out they're unsigned, it's a bit of a shock!" XFM
"The absolute epiphany of my weekend was London based Nixa. Everytime I see this band, I fall in love a little bit more. Their performance was stunning and it was definitely the climax of the night as things petered off afterwards. Their Biffy Clyro-esque style, gorgeous vocal harm

We've never been able to quite pin down exactly how the The Hunter Gracchus are going to play on any given occasion, which is a wonderful thing. A shifting unit with Syed Kamran Ali, Fiona Marshall and Jon Marshall at the core, they have recently settled into a fairly stable unit of six, but it's hard to know how long that'll last. Still, while it does, it's producing all manner of magical and highly unexpected performances. The one captured here was recorded at the band's practice room cum gig space, Fagin's Hideout/The Furniture Makers and is a less blistering freakout than some of their recent output, preferring to quietly explore every nook of tonal space. It simmers rather than erupts and, the longer you become immersed in it, the less aware you become of the passage of time. It's a recording that feels like it should go on forever and, when it does come to a close, the silence is shocking. In a time when it's all too easy for a group of improvisers to just go full-tilt in some euphoric pursuit, the Hunter Gracchus provides us with a glowing alternative that draws us slowly in and drowns our senses. This is truly awesome.
Ltd to 80 copies, sleeves printed on recycled card w/soya based ink, no less
This beautiful super-heavyweight LP, which comes packaged in a sweet full-colour sleeve reunites the UK's premier free drummer Alex Neilson, who's played, amongst others, with Motor Ghost, Directing Hand, Trembling Bells, Tight Meat Duo, Josephine Foster, Bonnie 'Prince' Billy, Jandek, MV&EE, Richard Youngs, Baby Dee and Alastair Galbraith, with Nmperign member Greg Kelley, whose reinvention of the trumpet is as crucial now as Anthony Braxton's reinvention of the sax was 30 years ago. A screeching, soaring, scattergun array of noises come maniacally out of Greg's horn, unlike anything we've ever heard and, with the addition of random stabs of electronics, he successfully straddles no wave, concrete and free jazz in a way that makes those genres seem like trite pigeonholes.
