It is harsh, dark, and dissonant while still remaining floating and beautiful. Powerful vocals, heavy guitar riffs, complex bass lines, and solid rhythms transport your mind to another place. The true talent of Monarch lies as a creative unit rather than individual instrumentalists.
Monarch is a four piece rock band based out of Salt Lake City, Utah. Monarch formed in the late fall of 2005. Early on they recorded a 7 song EP titled "Eden" which helped them gain exposure in the local music scene. Over the past several months, Monarch has played extensively at local venues which include: The Depot, Liquid Joe’s, Ego’s, Burt’s Tiki Lounge, The Huka Bar and Grill, Brewskis, Kilby Court, The Urban Lounge, Club Suede, and many more. Monarch's new EP "How I Tried" is scheduled to be released in the summer of 2009..
Monarch has been featured on several of Utah’s top rock and alternative stations. KBER 101.1 Salt Lake Soundcheck has featured several of Monarch’s songs on the air, as well as several acoustic in-studio performances. Monarch was the number one most played local band on KBER 101.1 for the year 2006 and placed in the top 3 most played local band for 2007. Monarch has also been in-studio guests on 97.5 The Blaze, 94.9 Z Rock, and has been featured on X 96.3 Live and Local. Monarch has also supported the national touring acts Shinedown, Fair To Midland, Hurt, Pop Evil, and Scott Weiland of Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver as an opener.
