An acoustic collaborative effort of Rick Marciano and Mike Stringer. The Moon Red-Handed is an indie/folk rock band from Ramapo College in Bergen County, New Jersey. Influenced by the lyrical and melodic stylings of contemporary songwriters such as Kris Roe and Will Sheff-- Marciano and Stringer are just two guys writing songs about what it is to grow up and what it is to be human.
"We all grew up thinking that no one understood us," says Rick, "and through writing music, we shared our plight in the best way we knew how. Generation after generation, this is how it's going to be. We're all of one blood and music courses through our veins."
Mike says, "It's all about the ear, really-- and the brevity of how long it takes a note or a chord or a word to appeal to it and translate into something beautiful. Something like that."
Mike Stringer is a student of Literature at Ramapo College with a focus on Creative Writing and intent to earn a teaching certificate. He then plans on applying to the Graduate Program of Creative Writing at New York University to study the composition of poetry. Mike has been writing poems since elementary school- the first of which, that he can remember, was about rain. He picked up the guitar in the eighth grade and since has played in a number of bands- none of which have achieved ANY level of success. He also enjoys Ultimate Frisbee and road tripping. In addition to his devotion to TMRH, Mike has written and recorded under the moniker Where the Wild Things Went.
Rick Marciano is also a Literature major studying at Ramapo College of New Jersey. He aims to become an English teacher someday and hopefully will figure out where he wants to pursue his graduate studies. Rick has been writing since middle school and can't remember (or chooses not to remember) the majority of his old poems/songs. He began playing guitar in sophomore year of High School. He loves diner coffee, good French Onion Soup, the company of friends, and the people he loves.
More to come. Do not adjust your monitor settings. This is still just a test.
