Formed out of a mutual passion for music, Paolo, Steve and Tim are The Morenas - an eclectic, rock-orientated collective from the Essex coast, in the UK. The music is inspired by Paolos travels through Europe and beyond, producing a high octane, adrenalin fuelled mix of melody, rhythm and rock, soulfully tainted by the melancholy.
Their first meeting came three years ago from Paolos search to find like-minded musicians to complete his dream. Firstly, with Steve while both working at a Francis Dunnery concert and then Tim at a local studio where the three of them rehearsed unaware of the imminent connection.
The bands first break was winning a competition on Xfm to represent Lauren Laverne in the Cannonball 8000 from London to Monte Carlo, in their 1970s New York police car and to headline the after-party in Monaco.Their antics were shown on ITV1 and along with sharing festival stages with the likes of The Beta Band and The Levellers they started to attract attention. Their first single Coming Home received great reviews and national radio spot plays off the back of this attention.
Last year saw the band elevate with a Channel 4: 4Play feature which also got a screening in Japan. Their second single inspired by the spy Mata Hari, It Shouldnt Mata received great interest picking up favourable press in Music Week and even OK! Magazine along with even more radio interest and secured full endorsement deals with Fender, Warwick and Orange County. The Autumn saw The Morenas supporting Martin Grech (Island Records) for his album launch and a UK tour supporting InMe (V2) along with frontman Paolo landing a cameo role playing John Lennon in a Channel 4 drama about the life of Princess Margaret.
The start of 2006 sees the band release their first EP, Dance For Your Dictator and a live performance on Redemption TV screened. The summer is kicking off well with a live radio session on cult DJ Janice Longs BBC Radio Two show on June 2nd. Their hugely anticipated debut album is scheduled for release in September.
Never a band intent on standing still, they write music that makes you get up and move. Not just because of the intrinsic rhythm or the addictive bass lines. Not even for the stage presence or soaring voice of front man Paolo. Simply, The Morenas are a great British band producing music that they, like many others, want to hear.

Hey everybody, I've updated the song list..... 3 new tunes on my page, one is a demo for my arrangement of stardust and the other two are origional tunes written by my good friend "Golden" Molden Pickett. Molden is the drummer for 3 bands in town, a keyboard player and singer. We recorded them using mycheap MLX microphones, a half broken KORG digital audio workstation that I'm using for a mic pre, sending it into my computer and recording to the consumer version of Sony Acid, routing sound through a consumer home stereo giving power to boston accoustic speakers. Monkeyrigged would be a good way to describe my setup.......
Hey! Just a quick message from Garden State - we have a new song on the page...'Feelings', its the first of 4 BRAND NEW TRACKS.
15th December in Nags Head in High Wycombe along with Simple Reason and The Wutars is THE WAR MACHINE release date...see you all then if you can make it!
Thanks mate. We're working out some dates hopefully with Living Colour. They love the music and put us in their top friends! Vernon Reid (their guitarist) even wants to play on some recordings with us which would be fantastic! Going to meet them all soon at a show in London which is awesome!! I'm going to switch from Paiste to Sabian as I've tried some of their new cymbals and they're head and shoulders better than what I'm using! I've got a meeting with them in September so hopefully I can bully them into a deal!!
We had a great time seeing everyone at the wedding on Friday but disaster struck when me and Sue went to get in the minibus to go round to Tony Knights for a party.... Sue.. wearing her newly aquired massive platform shoes fell over and has broken her ankle! I had to rush her to Colchester Hospital then wait for 5 hours for a 10 minute plaster job! What a nightmare!!!!!!!!!
Nice to hear from you, hope everything is great and could you please tell Mark about Sue! Tony didn't realise why we vanished so quickly!!!! Poor Sue!

"Like one of the Deal sisters in a cosmic deathray fight with Be Your Own

Motema Music has released my new CD, "Deacon Blues", the straight ahead organ trio I've been wanting to do for years. It's getting great reviews and lots of radio play. The CD features several friends: Two of my favorite guitarists, Mike DeMicco and the phenomenal Joe Beck. Danny Gottlieb is laying down the groove with my brother Tony guesting on bass for a couple of tracks.
The CD is available on line at AMAZON.COM or at WOODSTOCK CD (www.woodstockcd.com) where they also have artist-signed copies in stock. (arguably making them worth less!)
Hi The Morenas, KingBathmat have a new song "Nobody Steals My Girl" up on myspace and it's free to download for the month of May, and there will be a new song every month afterwards until the album is released near the end of the year.
