"Take a dash of The
Get Up Kids, the raw yet
delicate nature of As Tall
As Lions, throw in some I
Am The Movie-era Motion
City Soundtrack and a tight
emo-sound full of pop
hooks and tempo changes.
Add all that together, and
you have yourself the
young California foursome
on the verge of becoming a
future threat on the indie
rock scene."

To begin, The Motel Life was the project of Michael Escanuelas, Judcody Limon, and Nicholas Camacho. It began as small words and ideas that were exchanged through IM, emails, and spooky human interaction that resulted from the breakup of each respected member’s previous bands.
During the fall season of 2007 these members came together with the idea of creating something a little bit more mature than their previous efforts. In November of that same year, Judcody and Michael wrote “We All Left Something Behind;” a song that would become the title track for their first ep. The rest of the album that would become the group’s first ep was written during that winter.
The introduction of Anthony Lujan completed the group for a short time, but several line-up changes would plague the position of second guitarist until around September of the following year, when Alvaro Hernandez joined the group and fulfilled the line-up that is The Motel Life today.
“We All Left Something Behind,” the bands first ep, was released in October. The album, which held eight tracks clocking in at over thirty minutes of music, was released with positive reviews from several sites like Absolutepunk.net and Alterthepress.net.
In January, following the release of their ep, The Motel Life embarked on their first out of state mini-tour and was the band’s first taste of life on the road. Several local shows soon followed for the support of “We All Left Something Behind.” A final tour was conducted in August of 2009 with the band playing several shows spanning across Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Nevada, and their home state of California.
Running off the positive feedback from fans and critics for “We All Left Something Behind,” The Motel Life has begun working on their debut full length album. Upon the completion of this process, The Motel Life will continue to run off their successful DIY methods with hopes of a bright future ahead of them.
