My family, my cats and my friends. Gardening, mosaics, scrapbooking, decorative painting.
Music
I have very eclectic tastes and will listen to anything, except Jazz and Country, although I like to look at Alan Jackson (only with his hat on). I still believe that the 70's created the best music, although lots will disagree. I like new stuff, too, although most of the bands my daughters listen to I have never even heard of. NO PUNK OR RAP.
Movies
Really liked the Lord of the Rings series, and the Harry Potter movies are exactly like the books, very wonderful. I am an alltime fan of the Indiana Jones series. The Dark Knight was quite awesome.
Television
For some reason my husband and I have been watching a lot of reality contest shows, Canadian Idol, American Idol, So You Think You Can Dance, and Dancing with the Stars. That has to be an old person thing. We also watch endless reruns of CSI.
Books
Love books, but have little time to read. If I read, nothing else gets done, and I mean NOTHING. I am totally in love with all the Wilbur Smith books, Lord of the Rings, all the Harry Potters, and The Stone Angel by Manitoba's own Margaret Laurence. I am a big classics fan, The Count of Monte Cristo, Three Musketeers, all that stuff. Lately I have been wading through the Diana Gabaldon series with the redhaired Scotsman.
Heroes
People who can overcome and flourish no matter what.

About me: I am an ordinary middle-aged woman, happily married with two grown up children, two grown up step children, and another grown up kid who just won't go away so we kind of adopted him unofficially. We are also the parents of two furry boys. We have been blessed with an amazing grandson who can already wrap us around his very little finger.
Christmas 2007 my husband was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia, and we have spent many months in hospitals and clinics. He had a stem cell transplant in October 2008 to attempt to eradicate this illness from our lives. So far, everything is going well!
Who I'd like to meet: Anyone who can put up with my bitching and whining and isn't overly self-indulgent or shallow, and doesn't care a lot about politics (social issues - good, politics - bad). Also, people who like flowers would be good. And people who hate cancer as much as I do.
Thank you so much for the Birthday wishes Patrice...with my dad having been in the military, and my parents AND I when I got married on Memorial day...those two days mean a lot to me...thanks for everything my friend!
Oh, Great Spirit Whose voice I hear in the winds, And whose breath gives life to all the world, hear me, I am small and weak, I need your strength and wisdom.
Let me walk in beauty and make my eyes ever behold the red and purple sunset.
Make my hands respect the things you have made and my ears sharp to hear your voice.
Make me wise so that I may understand the things you have taught my people.
Let me learn the lessons you have hidden in every leaf and rock.
I seek strength, not to be greater than my brother, but to fight my greatest enemy - myself.
Make me always ready to come to you with clean hands and straight eyes.
So when life fades, as the fading sunset, my Spirit may come to you without shame.
(translated by Lakota Sioux Chief Yellow Lark in 1887)
