The Mother Z's started with a spontaneous collaboration between brother and sister Andrew and Rebecca Palmer. Andy wanted to hear a new song he'd written up against a beat, so he forcibly made his sister play despite the fact that she was hating her life. Miraculously, as the two played along to Andy's new song, Becca's hate rays melted away and the two actually started having fun. Rebecca added her soulful harmonies to Andy's blues-tinged melodies and the Mother Z's were on their way. Andy and Becca started writing more of these soul/pop gems and the two began to play open mic nights and were soon booking club gigs in Chicago, while garnering spots on podcast radio shows including Chicago Acoustic Underground. The Mother Z's have written and recorded two albums, "Gold, Living Gold!" and "Soul Singer," along with a four song ep called "Holy Moly!." In 2009, The Z's look forward to their debut on Series Two Records, which will be a collection of the tracks from their previous recordings. Look for The Mother Z's brand of acoustic soul at a coffee shop near you as the Z's embark on the SWEATER WEATHER TOUR in August of 2009!! ... We also play parties or whatever ya got!
