4AD is excited to release the new album by THE MOUNTAIN GOATS, which is John Darnielle, Peter Hughes and Jon Wurster. The Life Of The World To Come was recorded this spring and features string arrangements by Owen Pallett (Final Fantasy). Less a profession of religious faith than an immersion in Biblical poetry and imagery, the songs on The Life of the World to Come take their names from verses that informed or inspired them, or which, sometimes, came up against them at right angles.
The Life Of The World To Come is the band's sixth album for 4AD.
Just last night I was driving home listening to 'the life of the world to come' and thinking about how it had been over a year since I saw the mountain goats at manning bar and how you should come back because the new album is just so damn good and just this morning I find out about the show at manning bar on April 13th. Very excited...
Just wanted to say I absolutely love your music, and especially the lyrics. You guys have some great messages! Profound and yet bluntly simple and honest. I love it!
Keep it up, and I hope I get to see you guys at a show sometime this year. Keep touring and keep us informed! :)
Thanks for the add..I'm coming late to the party...the newest release seems particularly designed for people like me (with the backdrop being the best selling book of all time).
"...you can't brace yourself for that..no one there to catch me when I fall"--thanks for capturing all that and more.
Great music for the car ride (we will get there when we get there, don't you worry....)
I've been a fan for about 8 or so years now and I'm very happy that you guys are getting the attention that you deserve. Your music is truly something special. Thank you for that.
lyric of the day:you hold my head in your hands. you say my name. how is it that though you say it some twenty thousand times it's never quite the same and you tell me that hercules died burning consumed by an article of his own clothing that's something I'd rather not be reminded of.
Please come Albuquerque NM! PLEASE! I had to drive to texas to see you last, and you have a million fans here! Just do us all a favor and come to ABQ already! Your music is amazing...
