The Mountain Movers have been together for a few years now. The band was started by Dan Greene of The Butterflies of Love. He was looking for a way to record songs with New Haven musicians about death, the devil, and the alterworld. Rick Omonte and Jay Bates from Crooked Hook signed on as the rhythm section and John Panos and Erik Elligers became the horn section. Rob Katz (who sadly is moving to San Diego in May, 2008) played the piano, rhodes and organ. Producers Scott Amore (Innerspace Sound) and Jim Aveni helped patch together the first collection of songs. The first full length We’ve Walked in Hell was released by Safety Meeting Records in the states October 2007, and will be released in Europe through London label Fortuna Pop in May 2008. They have also released a split single with The Titles featuring the song Fate’s on Your Side. They are currently finishing up their second full length record at Seaside Lounge in Brooklyn, New York. It was recorded on 2 inch tape and will be released in the states in September 2008 on vinyl LP by Safety Meeting Records. Look out for that! New songs, new paintings, new shows! Live, they have shared the stage with: The Akron Family, Josephine Foster, Wolf Parade, Ted Leo and the Pharmacists, Mark Mulcahy,The Lemonheads, Gringo Starr, and The Left Outsides.

i envision dan standing at canoe helm with guitar held close, and bates at the stern with light trap kit bobbing down the river like a mississippi dream...
ok so when you played at the basement in northampton, my friend brie and i staged a dance off to win that damn painting, we both wanted it so bad we could taste it. then some guy made off with it and we haven't seen it since.
Thanks for making it up to Noho. Got tons of comments like, "how do you know these guys? They're so good!". So another gig up here is a safe prediction. I'm "soundtrtack-ready?". Is that good or bad? Sounds at least profitable..
