TheMOXIE formed in 2005. From the outset the original band had ambitions to take their love of music as far as possible.
TheMOXIE formed in Alice Springs in 2005. From the outset, the original band had ambitions to take their love of music beyond the realms of Central Australia.
Since then, TheMOXIE has evolved from its folk/rock background, referencing the likes of Paul Kelly and The Whitlams, to now regarding acts such as Radiohead, Coldplay, and The National as key influences.
TheMOXIE has played alongside national acts as a part of several festivals, supported touring groups John Butler Trio and Hilltop Hoods, and has toured intra and interstate.
The band’s recent immersion in Melbourne’s music scene, teamed with a slight lineup adjustment has made for an exciting new chapter. Continuous gigging throughout the band’s new home city and experimentation in drummer Jack’s Brunswick bedroom has produced several demo recordings, exhibiting the outfit’s fresh slant on the alternative scene.
We are officially announcing that Mass Burial has booked album recordings in Production Avenue studios in Sydney, which will commence on 21st of December 2009.
The producer will be none less than Lachlan Mitchell, who earned world wide fame by producing internationally acclaimed masterpiece albums for Sydney industrial/death metal giants The Amenta and legendary Australian black metal pioneers Nazxul.
THE RUBYS FIRST BIRTHDAY EXTRAVAGANZA - 4 MORE SLEEPS
One year ago, on a lonely Wednesday evening at a forgettable Collingwood pub, The Rubys played their first gig. Twelve months on, the three scrappy-looking lads have under their belts better songs, more gigs and are infecting Melbourne audiences with catchy, raw, stomp rock n roll pretty much weekly. So to mark the milestone of reaching the ripe old age of one, The Rubys are celebrating with a birthday party! With around 40 gigs down over the previous year and a wildly raucous live set, there has been a lot of jumping around and beer consumed so this Friday at the Old Bar will be no exception. Expect some wild blues-driven sets by The Volatiles and The Bellows to warm things up, and the boy’s favourite two-piece The Cheats bringing it all home. 8:30 start, $8, Party hats provided.
