BIOGRAPHY:
"If the members of Depeche Mode, Bananarama, The Human League, Dead Or Alive, and Kate Bush were all hanging out together at a pub and the spirit of Marc Bolan dropped by to invite them all over to The B-52s love shack for an orgy, the resulting birth love child would be T.H.E.M.-- Thee Human Ego Maniacs".
Once upon a time, there were two 10-year-old best friends with a mutual love of music and a dream of performing. With youthful naivety and carefree spunk, Justin Nylander & Christiana Eastman planned out their career path in the shadows of the bright lights of Hollywood, which teased them in their Southern California suburb. As young teens, they quickly got their first big break from, literally, knocking on the doors of the music industry. Pop chart topper Stacey Q ( of "Two Of Hearts" fame), based just down the street from Justin & Christiana, became great friends with the energetic duo. Stacey and her producer/manager Jon St. James hired Justin & Christiana to work after school as the directors of Stacey's fan club at Jon St. James' F1 Music production/ management company in the late 1980s. What a great job for two young kids huh? That position led to full time music industry jobs throughout the 90's ranging from Production Coordinators, Artist Relations, and various management and label positions. All the while, Justin & Christiana were able to develop their talents as songwriters and performers until the day they unleashed T.H.E.M., an acronym for Thee Human Ego Maniacs.
The year 2002 brought much excitement for T.H.E.M., as indie label Electrovenus Records released T.H.E.M.s debut album, Sin, Win & Grin. Moreover, Billboard Magazine kindly supported Justin & Christiana's creative efforts as T.H.E.M. and invited the duo to The Billboard Dance Music Summit in NYC to be conference panelists representing The Emerging Nu-Electro / Electroclash Movement." Global awareness ensued after many positive Billboard reviews and numerous mentions of T.H.E.M. in print. Their debut maxi-single, "Here We Go/Sex Shooter" quickly became a club favorite and received nationwide radio airplay.
In Spring 2004, Justin & Christiana leaped into the studio to start work on their sophomore release, BANG. Fellow electro duo Blow Up (remixers of Madonna & The Flaming Lips, and producers of Deborah Harry & Lydia Lunch), with a release also on Electrovenus Records, were chosen by T.H.E.M. to produce half of the albums tracks. For the other half of the albums tracks, T.H.E.M. enjoyed working with their longtime friend, new-wave pioneer Arthur Barrow (former right-hand-man to both Giorgio Moroder and Keith Foresy, and a member of Frank Zappa's legendary band), who co-produced with Justin. According to T.H.E.M, they couldn't unleash BANG upon the world quick enough, as they are so proud of it. BANG is packed with dance-floor-filling, electro-rockin' energy and sass. Included are the club hits "Sex Shooter" and "Here We Go (The Blow Up Version)", as well as the pumping aggression of "You", the ultra-fun "Let Me See Your Underwear", the sultry "Black Leather", the infectious "There Goes My Heart Again", "The Wild Life" and many more. The final result is an album packed with raw energy, excitement, infectious songs, throbbing beats, and enough sass and substance to intoxicate the senses. Get ready for a BANG with T.H.E.M.
As many already know, radio airwaves and dance clubs have been pumping the singles "Let Me See Your Underwear", "Here We Go" & "Sex Shooter".
And of course, video play made its impact as many video service companies have aired the videos for "Here We Go" & "Let Me See Your Underwear" bringing T.H.E.M. to countless viewers around the world.
August 2006 we see the release of the new T.H.E.M. album SKIN. Justin & Christiana once again enjoyed working on many of the new albums tracks, co-producing along with longtime friend and new wave pioneer Arthur Barrow. As well as working on many tracks, co-producing with Bryan Thomas Harrison (a high school friend of both Justin & Christiana). Stand outs include the sultry electro dance scorcher single "Killer" (Complete with an ultra hot music video as seen on MTV's LOGO Network NewNowNext video show & LOGO's Top 10 Click List video show, with "Killer" music video reaching Top 10 status in January 2007 on LOGO), "My Promise", "Come To This", "Beautiful", "Pull Up To The Bumper", "Happy", "Waiting For The Train" and many more. So get ready as T.H.E.M. show you their SKIN. According to T.H.E.M. , they love this album, can't wait to share it with you, and say "Prepare yourselves for the ride!!"
