Influences
Heavy blues, think Mayall & The Bluesbreakers, J.J. Cale, bluesy Dead stuff, Dylan, Neil Young, and all the old blues greats... with a biscuit. For that Southern flavor that you savor.
The Murray Hillbillies are John Austill, singer/songwriter/rhythm guitar, Leo Clarke, singer/songwriter/leadguitar/harmonica, Dell Hand, bass guitar, L.P. drums.
The Murray Hillbillies first met and started playing together at the local Jam nights in the Riverside area of Jacksonville, Fl. After a few hot jams a fellow musician at the club said to us after our set, “Sounds like you guys got a band!”. With those words of encouragement and a good vibe between us all we decided to get together to jam and maybe form a band. Mostly focused on the material of John Austill the band has a solid body of original music along with a tasty selection of classic rock and blues cover tunes. John’s vocal style is unique, powerful and packed with soul. Although busy playing in another band (Capt. Hook) Dell Hand delivers solid bass tones and funky fills. Dell’s musicianship is well known in the area and has jammed with many of the locals. On Drums and the youngest member in the group, L.P. keeps the time and he’s great at it. “L.P.’s is a solid drummer with a load of musical talent.” Leo Clarke completes the musical cake by icing it with his bluesy, psychedelic lead style and raspy vocal tones. Brought together by the forces of music the Murray Hillbillies are a real rock ‘n roll band ready to rock your socks of. Come and see for yourself! So you best ware two pairs of socks, better yet just ware sandals.
