Winchester ontstond in 2007 als spontane symbiose van muzikanten met erg uiteenlopende achtergronden. Zo heeft drummer Tili een duister metalverleden, probeerde toetsenist Wouter poprock heruit te vinden (tevergeefs) en is voor gitarist/frontman Steven Dissonante rock de enige waarheid.
De sound is eclectisch: van electro over synthpop tot 70’s rock met dansvloerpotentieel als grootste gemene deler - iemand omschreef het treffend als ‘catchy nervositeit waar je voeten spontaan op gaan meebewegen’. er wordt duchtig geexperimenteerd met elektronica in de studio, maar vooral live een splinterbom waar je niet omheen kan.
