Being a singer/songwriter can be a solitary affair. Wesley Allen Simpson found this out first-hand after he left his band in Ontario and moved east in 2003. As he tired of his Poly Sci texts and playing alone, he sought out musical companionship…finding it in squash courts, university auditoriums, and basements with low ceilings. The Names & Faces were born, playing shows in their adopted home of Fredericton with the likes of Rebekah Higgs, Most Serene Republic, and Jon McKiel. Various members, instruments, a botched recording and a brief hiatus later…Wesley (guitar, vocals), Brad Perry (keys, vocals), Heather Ogilvie (bass, vocals), Corey Knox (guitar) and Jason Sonier (drums) remain.
The Names & Faces' sound is centered on Wesley's songs - melodically driven guitar, honest lyrics and classic folk/pop sensibilities. Their heart-on-the-sleeve folk rock is as refreshing as it is familiar.
The band is currently recording…well, re-recording…a full-length album with Brad Perry at Competition Studios.
