The electronic noises that soundtracked our childhood, not just in the charts but in TV programmes, films, supermarkets, shopping centres, schools and our own little brains.
Sounds Like
We've been told: Kraftwerk, Stereolab, Blondie, Saint Etienne, A Certain Ratio, Nico, Belle & Sebastian, OMD, Pere Ubu, Depeche Mode, Tubeway Army, Broadcast, Magnetic Fields, Section 25, John Foxx, Magazine, New Order, early Human League... and we didn't slap any of the people who told us.
Innes Knight and Lolo Wood met at a wedding where Lolo was DJing. Innes asked Lolo to play Is Vic There? by Department S, which she did, even though only 5 people danced. The Nanny Maze were formed in order to free the lovely sounds from Innes’s old Casio keyboard, but the Casio has since shacked up with a Korg, a melodica, a stylophone and and a Hammond that Lolo found on the street. In real life, Innes is a gunsmith and Lolo works for the BBC’s radio station for posh people.
To all those people that have been down to our nights this year, played them, enjoyed them and to all that are coming down in the future to play and enjoy!
