Bio
In 1965, a young David Needham was a member of a popular regional New England country band. Opening for such names as Lefty Frizzell and Marty Robbins allowed David to see the lifestyle of these stars firsthand. He saw the emptiness in the lives of those around him, and knew he had to search for something to fill the emptiness growing in his life. This led him to a Jack Wyrtzen revival in Massachusetts. There, he was introduced to Southern Gospel music, and saw four young men who "were glowing". Right then, he knew what he wanted. The music prepared his heart for the Gospel, and when he heard how Christ loved him enough to die for him, he became a child of the Living God.
Eileen Berube was David's fiance during this time. She grew up singing with her family while doing chores around the house. She learned to play guitar and was often called upon to perform. Eileen accepted Jesus Christ in August 1969. Together, David and Eileen began singing country music, but the Lord had a higher calling for them. As they grew in their faith, God drew them closer together and into Gospel music. They were married, and thus, the Needhams began.
The Needhams started singing as a family in 1976 in LeRoy, NY. Original members David and Eileen Needham along with their two young children, Dave and Diane, performed in area churches. As their popularity and ministry flourished, The Needhams expanded to extensive travel throughout the Northeast.
The 1990’s brought change to The Needhams. Diane married Steve Mummert in 1993 and moved to Hanover, PA, where she joined her husband’s family, The Mummerts, as a vocalist and guitarist as well as honing her songwriting skills. In 1994, David and Eileen moved to Murfreesboro, Tennessee to pursue other careers, and Dave joined the world-renowned Dixie Melody Boys from Kinston, North Carolina as a vocalist and bass guitarist. In 1996, Dave was nominated for the Singing News Fan Awards “Favorite Horizon Individual.” In 1997, after having traveled with the group for three years and acquiring invaluable experience, Dave returned to his roots and first love - family harmony.
For the Needhams, 1998 was a year filled with new opportunities. David, Eileen, and Dave began to travel on a full time basis. Dave became the manager and produced his first live video and a number of albums. The Needhams had become one of the fastest rising family groups in Southern Gospel music.
The new millennium brought exciting changes to The Needhams. In January of 2000, Diane rejoined the group as a vocalist and mandolin player. Her husband Steve Mummert took the position of drummer and vocalist. This allowed The Needhams to expand their instrumentation, bringing strength and versatility to an already gifted group. Dave Needham brought one more change to The Needhams. In November of 2002, he married gifted singer-songwriter Corina Burrell. Corina sang and played piano with her family, The Burrells, for ten years. Now, her unique voice and sweet spirit round out the Needhams’ sound.
The Needhams have recorded many inspirational and uplifting albums. Ready To Go (2001) is a totally original album featuring songs penned by Dave, Diane, and David and Eileen's grandson/ former member Josh Thorne. "When the Trumpet Sounds", "I'm Going Through", and "Behold the Lamb" were singles sent out to radio from this album. "Behold the Lamb" was a top 5 pick in the US Gospel News that year, and "When the Trumpet Sounds" charted in the top 100. Almost Home: Live! (2002) is another completely original album, and each song was penned by Dave or Diane. This album was recorded live at the Gibson Bluegrass Cafe in Nashville, TN. "One Way or Another" was a song that charted for the Needhams from that album. On the project, Saved to Serve (2004), 11 of the 12 songs were penned by Dave, Diane, and Corina. This album features the hit singles "Walkin' On the Water" and "I'm On My Way".
In 2005, the Needhams have released their self-titled album, The Needhams. "We feel this album truly shows our hearts, and our prayer is for those to see a glimpse of Christ through our songs", states Corina Needham. 11 of the 12 are originals written by Dave, Diane, and Corina. The album starts with a unique, brief a capella piece followed by Corina's driving, metaphorical song, "Take Time". "It's A Shower Of Blessing" (or as Diane calls it - The Rain Song) is Diane's masterpiece. It's a beautiful song of encouragement sung by Diane. Dave did an awesome job with his progressive tune, "What Grandma Said". That title may sound familiar to some. The Needhams had recorded it on a previous album, but added quite a few different touches to this one. "Child of the King" comes next, featuring the pristine harmonies of the group. "This Is It" is the 'power ballad' for this album. It is another tremendous song written by Dave. It speaks of those struggling with addictions and letting go. "Someday Soon" is a toe-tapping, hand-clapping song featuring David. "One More Second Chance" is another more progressive song written by Diane and featuring Corina. Diane wrote a great heart-felt song entitled "You Are My Healing". Eileen's rich vocals excentuates the message of this song. Steve sang a song with a more country flare this time around with Diane's "I'm Going Back". "Pennies From Heaven" has a bluegrass touch to it, and Diane's sweet voice to complete it. "Pressing Toward The Mark" is an upbeat tune from Dave's pen, which he is featured on. Corina and Dave arranged an old hymn of the church "Rock of Ages" to complete the album.
With their combined talents of singing, songwriting, and instrumentation, The Needhams look to the future with great optimism—never losing sight of their primary goal, which is to uplift the name of Jesus Christ. As David Needham states, ”Our goal is to glorify God, edify His people, and win the lost.”

I've got some life-saving news! Jesus is alive ! "And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him:lo,I have told you. " Matthew 28:5-7 Have you talked to Him today?
