About me:
Over three years in the making, The Nerve's story is a unique one to say the least. Guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter Josh Lane began creating the blueprint for the band in the summer of 2006, during a chance meeting with Matchbox Twenty frontman, Rob Thomas.
Thomas was touring in support of his 2005 solo record “…Something to Be” when Lane, who was working as a stagehand at Columbus, Ohio’s Promowest Pavilion (now The LC) boldly approached Thomas with a disc containing his own home demos. At the time, Thomas was in the process of forming his own independent record label, RTEL with business partner Evan Lamberg (Music Executive). Just four days after their first meeting, Thomas phoned Lane personally with news that he intended on signing him to RTEL based on the strength of his demos. Conversely, when Thomas contacted Promowest directly to obtain Lane's phone number, Lane was fired from his job for socializing with the acts. It's now safe to say that he sees it as a fair trade.
Lane immediately secluded himself in the home studio of relative Marshall Lane for the next forty-eight days, where the two recorded and co-produced several new songs which were also submitted to Thomas. After several trips to NYC for meetings with Thomas and Lamberg, it was clear that RTEL was the perfect outlet for Lane’s music. The label offered all of the creative freedom of an indie, with the financial support and knowledge of a major.
As Lane’s catalog of material continued to grow, the need for a live band became apparent. With the addition of Carlos Caballero (drums, backing vocals), Chris Yotive (guitar), and Dustin Rinehart (bass, backing vocals), the songs have taken on an entirely new feel, while still maintaining their original integrity. The result is a collection of hard hitting, hook laden, pop/rock songs with diverse influences such as 90’s alternative and post hardcore, punk rock, metal, and powerpop. If one were to throw The Beatles, King’s X, Nirvana, The Cars, and Cheap Trick into a blender and hit puree’, it might give a slight indication as to The Nerve’s sound.
Currently, the band is awaiting the finalization of being the third signing to RTEL Records, who are busy preparing 2009 releases for their existing artists, Hodges (Los Angeles, CA) and Garfield Mayor (Coventry, Midlands UK). The Nerve will be playing select dates in Ohio throughout the year, so don’t miss an opportunity to catch them live!

"Baby, baby, baby
When all your love is gone
Who will save me
From all I'm up against out in this world
And maybe, maybe, maybe
You'll find something that's enough to keep you
But if the bright lights don't receive you
You should turn yourself around
And come on home"

I can see where we end...
I'd give up all of my days to go back.
There was all this wonder
