Around a dozen years ago a group of musicians from the Galax, VA area formed a new band. This group The New Ballard's Branch Bogtrotters took their name, in part from the original Bogtrotters of the 1930's and also because band leader Dennis Hall lives on Ballard's Branch. During the last few years the band has gained quite a reputation winning the first place Old Time Band contest at the prestigious Old Fiddlers convention in Galax on six different occasions. In addition, they have played their music at such regional an national festivals as the Blue Ridge Folk Life Festival and the University of Chicago Festival.
Rounding out the Bogtrotters lineup are original members, Dennis Hall on guitar, Peco Watson with clawhammer banjo, and Dallas Hall on mandolin. More biographical information concerning Dennis, Peco, and Dallas, as well as the earlier years of the band can be found on the bogtrotters previous recordings/liner notes (Heritage CD 116, CD 127, and CD 131) The tunes and songs on this CD continue the Bogtrotters tradition of hot, tight band music. Old time music is alive and well, and continues to attract fans of all ages. The New Ballard's Branch Bogtrotter's remian a leading force in carrying the traditional music of the Virginia/Carolina Blue Ridge into the new millenium.

Eddie---I found an old video tape of me and you playing banjo and guitar with an old timer that you took me to visit several years or more back. I didnt catch his name on the tape, but I thought you might remember who I'm talking about. He told some stories about WWII and fiddled some. Let me know if you want a copy.
Hey fellers, good to say howdy again. I'm real sad to say, I most likely won't get to come to Galax this year. I will be at Clifftop, after that I'm going to be heading over to Augusta Heritage to help with their beginning banjo class..which is the same time as Galax. This is one of those times when I wish I could be in two places at once. .. now I know banjo players are pretty wonderful..but not quite that wonderful...ha ha ha ha. Rebekah
