Dexy K met Michael Nebraska many years ago at the Paradise Bar, New Cross, scene of much New Wave of New Cross nonsense and more great shows and £1 beers than a stick could be reasonably shaken toward.
They toured together in their respective bands CORPORATION:BLEND and NEBRASKA and had a jolly good time of it all things considered.
After C:B disbanded Dexy joined NEBRASKA on rhythm guitar, leaving to concentrate on his DEXY & THE HAND-ME-DOWNS just last year.
Dex has gone on to release his debut single, recieve much acclaim and play a series of superb shows both full band and solo acoustic, while NEBRASKA continue to play stunning live sets and record and release enormous rock songs and tragic ballads alike.
Of course, these chaps fancied doing something musical together once again and after much whisky, whining and general timewasting they have emerged, without a trace of irony, as THE NEW HAPPINESS.
Their first ever show was at The BIG CHILL Festival, Great Malvern on Sunday 3rd August, 2008 which they were extremely pleased about as they got to play the same day there as THE BUZZCOCKS, JEFFREY LEWIS and LEONARD COHEN.
