Sounds Like
They sound like they all ate the Guinness Book of British Hit Singles and regurgitated all the best hits!
TNS have an original and diverse sound and style; both musically and lyrically and don’t fit into one genre of music. This is what makes TNS on of the best hidden talents in the North East!
When The New Stories start playing, people are attracted to them like flies to dog poo!
'Versatile' is an understatement when describing them, as they embrace and merge all the coolest music from the last five decades with ease.
Remember the first time you heard your favourite band? Goosebumps? Hairs on the back of your neck standing on end? Wow?!!
Well that's The New Stories.
The New Stories formed as a band in February 2004 as most bands do in the pub! After a drunken discussion about crap manufactured bands they decided they were going to change the face of music forever! They meet up regularly for inspirational writing sessions. The first Stories gig was at their old school in a battle of the bands contest voted by Kerrang journalists. The New Stories beat off six local bands to win in a landslide gig. The local press praised the band and the gigs have just been rolling in ever since.
They have just done really well in the 'MobileAct' competition for Channel 4 - they needed to be in the top 50 to be on the telly, but they finished at number 51 !! If any of the bands had dropped out then they would have taken their place – we have the email to prove it! The best thing about it is that they were chosen by the judges, one of whom was Jo Wylie. "Husker New, anyone? Canadian foursome Uncut have a similarly fine way with brittle belligerence ("Let's just kill all the living" opines opener 'Darkhorse'), labyrinthe melodies (see the epic 'Out of Sight') and artfully fractious strums (particularly 'Chainfight'), making this a minor post-hardcore masterclass.
