New York City’s The New Surreal consists of Danny Chait and Ross Wilson. The band began in 2003 when Chait met Wilson during their first weeks in New York City. The two immediately began performing Chait’s songs at bars and clubs on New York's Bleecker Street and the surrounding area. They played on with various band names and lineups until the fall of 2005, when they met drummer, Nick Smeraski, while studying abroad in Prague. As they returned to New York and began performing throughout the city, The New Surreal was born, and the band recorded its self-released EP, "Waiting for the Fall" and its first full length album, "The New Surreal". Nick left the lineup early in 2009, and the band is currently working on writing and is recording and taping studio sessions. The first fiew are already up on YouTube, and keep your eyes open for a new one up every week or so!
The band's self titled debut full length album is out now! The album was released on August 19th, 2007, on Sunset Records, and is available at major online stores in digital media or hard copy.
The New Surreal's first EP release, the “Waiting for the Fall...” EP, came out in January, 2008, and is available on iTunes or at live shows.
