Dedication:
This collection of music is dedicated to the loving memory of two people who influenced me greatly in my life and in my music and are no longer on this Earth. This is for you, my best friend and sweet sister Ruthie
and a very special thanks to the founder of The Tropics, "The Cheif" Buddy Pendergrass.
Special thanks: in memory of "KOTO" King of the Oldies" Kurt Curtis, author of the book "Florida's Famous and Forgotten".
A special thanks to my son Chip for helping me write my biography
and to Doug Cifers of Florida Media & Books. A very special thanks to my wife Laurie for encouraging my creativity and taking the cover photos and a big thanks to Eric Turner, soul brother, life long friend and band mate.

Livin' in Paradise,
Thanks for being friends with the Black Angel band from Santa Barbara, California. Come check out our new songs on our My Space site.
Featured Band This Week is **Charlie Souza - The New Tropics** - The New Rascals**
Go to their myspace and listen to the music!
I chose the song "Time" as a featured song on The Tampa Tribune* with Scott, Myspace. Charlie has given each and everyone of us a gift of remembrance, "Time".
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
First Based out of Tampa Florida, The Tropics began as a seven piece horn band featuring Mel Dryer on lead vocals, Buddy Pendergrass on guitar and Spencer Hinkle on drums, with Wayne Guida on Trumpet and Ronnie Ferrer on sax.
During 1965, in the wake of the British Invasion, the band changed from their basically R&B style to become a more Beatlesque type band, adding Eric Turner on guitar and Charlie Souza on Bass, dropping the horns and hiring a new drummer, Bobby Shea. They then added manager, Margie Sexton, owner of the famous "SURFER'S CLUB," at Madeira Beach, an extremely popular teen-age night club in the mid-60's.
Charlie has performed with many talented artists over the years! Listen to this new CD! A definite add to our collection! Hats are off to all of you! ~Scott~ The Tampa Tribune
