The New Westerns are a 5 piece country-rock band. The band plays guitar driven original music described as "hard western" or "country with loud guitars". The songs range from 70's california power rock pop to country western murder ballads. The band sound halfway between Texas and California, so it makes sense that their current base is Arizona.
The band was formed in the spring of 2007 as a country cover band. The New Westerns played Waylon Jennings and Ryan Adams covers to the resort crowds in Phoenix and Scottsdale and while they were at it, developed some originals. The band emerged from the studio several months later with a 5 song EP of original material. The EP was self released on radiofree records and is available at Zia Records in Tucson, Phoenix and Las Vegas. The album is also available from iTunes, amazon mp3 and most other music download sites. As the line up changed and the sound evolved the band continued to produce new material.
The New Westerns are an all original band whose style is similar to bands like Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Black Crowes or Gin Blossoms.
