Nic's Biography
Nic Jackson is at the prime of his life. With no need for a stage name, the breakthrough artist stands above the rest with his soulful voice and breathtaking lyrics. He attributes his music style to legends such as The Jackson 5, Stevie Wonder, Prince, Marvin Gaye, Smokey Robinson, Tower of Power, Brian Mcknight, Sharon Jackson(his mother) and his Aunt Janice Marie Johnson of the Grammy Award winning group, A Taste of Honey. Janice-Marie the singer, bass player and songwriter of the number 1 pop/R&B hit, “Boogie Oogie Oogie”, pushed Nic to focus on his songwriting. Whether it was looking up to Pop and R&B idols, or his own line of talented family members, Nic uses the inspiration he draws from watching them and applies it to being genuine within his music and his performances. His lyrics portray life through his eyes. As each situation moves him, Nic incorporates his own life lessons into his music to reach out to his listeners.
From being a dedicated lifelong football player, to budding musician, Nic made the turnaround from athletics to music at the age of 14. Despite his childhood dream as a ball player, music is his true lifelong passion. With putting football aside during all four spring seasons of his high school career, he began performing in jazz festivals all across California with the Folsom High School Jazz Choir. “Those were some memorable years, singing with the Jazz Choir in High School,” Jackson stated. “I never sang at Church at that age. So it was my only outlet for music at the time. You learn a lot about yourself when you spend that much time around that many singers.” Nic believes that his four years in choir taught him not only how to take control of the crowd when in the forefront, but also how to blend with a group when singing background. “You'd be surprised by how many singers have trouble singing background,” Jackson said. “I'm talking about great singers with beautiful voices. They have no fear when they're singing lead. But when you take the melody away from them and ask them to do background, they struggle. They get lost.” Nic left the Folsom High School Jazz Choir upon graduation in 2003. A short time later, he decided that a solo career was what he wanted, and from then, the rest is history. From here on out, Nic has dedicated his life to his passion, and is now focusing on his songwriting, live performances and getting his music heard.
Since September of 2005, Nic Jackson has been based in Los Angeles, California. While living in L.A., Jackson has wasted no time working towards his goals. From 2005 to 2007, Jackson went to Musicians Institute where he studied vocals and piano. While studying at MI, Nic started performing around town with his newly formed band, the Nic Jackson Band, at various venues in L.A. Nic has also made a living performing at Universal Studios Hollywood as well as with other entertainment agencies doing weddings, holiday parties, and corporate events, gaining exposure and experience while paying his dues and his bills. Nic Jackson utilizes every opportunity he has to let the community hear the gift of music that he's been given.
Whether it's singing his own songs, or composing at the piano, Nic Jackson's ability to perform as a well-rounded artist portrays his hard work ethic. Nic is continuously giving his all to being as real as the music that he produces, so that generations of all ages will be touched by his work and his work will be played long after it's first released.

It's pretty bad ass, the place is usually packed with living legends, I sat in a couple weeks ago after Gerry Brown (Stevie Wonder and Stanley Clarke's drummer) and Lil' John Roberts (Jill Scott's former drummer, Janet Jackson's current drummer..) - it was an education to say the least. Byron Miller (bass) runs the jam session - with your pipes, you could definitely hang man!
Hah, it's all good, we got a little flack too - but hey, it's not like the venue promoted the show at all... Do you ever go to the Red White & Bluezz jam in Pasadena on Thursdays? I could definitely see you sitting in for a song or two...
what up Nic! just and update on for the love of you. I tried it in B, but kept hearing a lower note. so I listened to the version that Vicky wants to do (Hil Street Soul) and their bassline starts in G! so I got the Isley's version and their bass is in G but all the chords start with the Bmaj! I'm starting to think thats were Prince got his off da chain chord structures from! LOL! Thanks for the help! btw, did you post your videos yet? looking forward to watching them! Peace, Dale
Just a quick reminder to all of my friends, that the wait is finally over….Yay? Finally completed my first full length album; “Mind Muzik 101,” which will also be available for download on CD Baby, and Digstation. Please feel free to visit my page for more details, and please spread the word. As always, thanks for all your support. We hope to hear from you soon.
Thanks, Man! Someone told me to start the bass in G, but that was not what I was hearing! Ok, then that would make Whitney H's version in C Maj then. Our lead singer, Vicky wants that version but I want to learn it in the original key first.
