Hello, I'm Nicki Denner. I could be all fancy and tell you this and that about my music career and my trio (if you are interested in that, please visit www.nickidenner.com) but I would like this site to be more personal than professional. So here's some vitals: I was born in Fort Dix, NJ, moved to Fairmont, Minnesota at the age of 2 years and then moved to West Salem, Wisconsin (technically Barre Mills) at the age of 6 and lived there until I was 17. I moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota to go to college where I majored in music education and played jazz and Latin music there for 10 years. Then I moved with my husband, Anton, to New Jersey. I currently work as a professional musician performing in the New York metropolitan area and teaching privately. I lead my own Latin jazz trio and am in a collective quartet (the New Jazz Quartet) which plays all original instrumental music and has recorded a CD that will be released later this year.I'm also a part of CocoMama, an all female Latin band. (www.cocomamamusic.com) I have self-produced three recordings which are available at CD Baby (www.cdbaby.com/nicki, www.cdbaby.com/nicki2, www.cdbaby.com/nicki3) and on iTunes (just search my name). I have been playing the piano since I was seven and been playing professionally for the past 15 years. I also play the clarinet (it was my major instrument in college), am an amateur tap dancer and am studying the timbales. I also practice yoga everyday and am a student of the Alexander technique (which has given me arches in my once flat feet-no joke). I'm also the proud human of a fabulous feline whose name is Marty.
