   About The Nicoles
Hello we were The Nicoles.
We are four people in college from York in England in the World.
We made music and played it to people who came and saw us at gigs.
We made our music because we were inspired to make it by bands such as Placebo, Smashing Pumpkins and many others. We like these bands.
Our Drummer is called Jamie, he is nice.
Our singer and guitarist is called Ben, he was quite nice.
Our good guitarist is called Sam, he is very nice indeed.
Our bassist is called Thomas, he is the nicest.
We played gigs around York and we sometimes played at partys because we like our friends.

The Talk said: "The Nicoles were recieved eagerly by a substantial crowd. The bands musical ability far exceeded their years. The layered composition echo-ed that of 'Arcade Fire' but was punctuated by an occasional sparseness which saved The Nicoles from the kind of noise over kill that many bands of this kind can often deliver. All said and done they are a great band, go and see them." Matt Grace.

Radio 1 - Bethan Elfyn: "This well deserves to be on the show tonight - a beautiful piece of music - ambulance"

Radio 1 - Huw Stephens: "Sounds good".

The Evening Press said: "Their sense of dynamics is impeccable, songs soaring and sweeping from verse to chorus, guitar lines cutting like scythes, nods to Radiohead and The Pixies fully realised.
Dark, brooding indie par excellence, rumbling like rolling thunder."

The Talk magazine said: "Expertly delivered contemporary alt-rock influenced by the familiar sounds of The Smashing Pumpkins and The Pixies. Their refusal to adhere to and mould themselves around the dictates of fashion will garner some new fans on the strength of this performance, The Nicoles should be very proud."

February Fuzzy Fun! Sat 28th Feb. City Screen Basment, York.

Starring: Undergrass + Helene + Sam Forrest

Undergrass will fry your brain with their dirty brand of deep fried southern skynyrd sounding bluesy swamp noise, all the way from Foss delta. Hell Yeah!

Helene are fronted by Helene and hail from London. And will be warming the fuzzy cockles of hearts with Velvet Underground esque pop and hints of Francoise Hardy. Their 3rd Album; 'Heliotrope' is out now, and has been critically loved, because, well it is mega!

Breaking you in gently for the night will be the fantastic Sam Forrest. Who will destroy your inds in a most pleasent fashion with his sublime Neil Young meets David Crosby Acousto-pop. Sublime!

Team Fuzz will, as always be your hosts for the evening! covering the basement in all manner of lights, projections, lollies, decor and serving up classic and not so classic, Blues, Soul, freakbeat, psych, northern soul, boogaloo, funk, odd bits of hiphip and whateverthehellelsetheyfancy.

Doors are at 8pm until 1am and tickets are only £4 otd or just £3 in adv or with a flyer. Be there or be a square from Delaware.

January Fuzzy Federal Fun! Sat 31st Jan. City Screen Basment, York.

The Federals, The 99s + Reefus Moons
What more can be said about The Federals? Other than they play crushing garage fuzz blues, sound like angry version of The Sonics, are loved by Steve Lamacq, The Times and they our favorite band, possibly ever.

The 99's are from across the Pennines, but you'll not mind once they start ripping into their Beatlesy / Byrdsy pop... and they sound a bit like The La's - which aint no bad thing.

Refus Moons is Yorks closest answer to Syd Barrett, except without the debilitating brain melting acid induced mental health problems... well, maybe...
