minimalist sketches of scenes, imaginings, memories…i don’t think they are ever intended to be the whole story. i’m not even sure they are finished, or indeed if they could be. they are just moments captured,
recorded however i can at the time - usually in something of a quiet and ramshackle way (to lesser or greater degrees…)
i'm enjoying using this page to come across many interesting people and their music…thanks for visiting.

I'm not sure I told you how much I like the 13th Strike. It's got that unmistakable nightjarsound. It has this beautiful kind of limping rhythm that goes reet perfect with the minory sounds. It's a combination that you've used to wonderful effect on a few other recordings like Between the Man and the Sky. And it's pretty wonderful.
Hope your chin is pointing in the right direction, buddy. Up, I mean. Hope your chin is keeping up. I've recorded a three part piece that re-explores Cinnamon Shops, an banjo ditty I wrote in Portland. I uploaded the first part and want you to listen to it.
If you like it, I'll email it to you with the second and third parts...

Capybara! Great recording. Is it the new microphone?! The college I was at in the US had some capybara-like creatures called nutria living on campus. They're very strange. I didn't see a single beaver the entire year i was in THE Beaver State but I saw my fair share of nutria...

'porthmeor' reminds me of walking along the coast between St Ives and Zennor, stumbling across stone circles and derelict houses on the edge of the cliffs... incredible.
stayed there for a long weekend a few years back; used to sit on the point near Porthmeor listening to the waves or plugging in and chilling to 'ocean songs' by dirty three... magic
i tried a thumbpick for playing bass years ago. i was going thru a phase of dropping a lot of picks! now i play with my fingers and thumb so it's not a problem any more!
