My hobbies and interests include playing theremin and percussion, graphic and web design, photography, my snakes, '73 VW Thing, '74 VW Riviera Camper Bus, '73 Honda CL100, local bands, neighborhood pubs, collecting funky stuff from the 40s-70s....spending time and playing music with my sweetheart Pete in our band WaveSauce.
Mount Shasta, CA, where I grew up... where I call home. Gotta get to the great outdoors every now and again. Camping, hiking, fresh mountain air... that's how I rejuvinate my spirit...
Theremin: Playing an Etherwave Theremin by Moog. DOD G112 amp, Electromuse tube amp, an Electro-Harmonix Holy Grail reverb pedal. Experimenting with various pedals and sound effects, the Echoplex is very cool. I am available for gigs and studio recording.
Percussion kit includes: Trashcan cymbal, tambourine, a multitude of shakers, thunder tube, afuches & cabasas , flex-a-tone, drill, guiro, marakas, triangle, bike horn, frying pan, cowbell, tone & wood blocks, theremin, chimes, sleigh bells, and whatever else makes a cool noise.
Love movies, would be a horrible critic, as I pretty much like everything - oh, there are exceptions... I am currently into foreign horror flicks. May I suggest Dead Alive, A Tale of Two Sisters, the Audition, and the very strange and artsy Uzumaki. You can't go wrong with a good Italian horror flick (gotta love the cheez factor).
Television
I'm a minimalist TV watcher, although I'm hooked on Lost. Hate local news. I really have no clue what’s on and when. But give me a marathon of Clint flicks, 007, John Wayne, and I’m all over it. Recently rented the entire series of Trailer Park Boys - super funny out of Nova Scotia. Give me some SeaLab, Lost In Space, and Samaria Jack and I'm set for hours
Watching Hawaii Five-O from start to finish. Kicks Ass! and just getting into Time Tunnel, Peter Gunn. Just finished the entire series of The Prisoner. Awesome!
Books
I have an extensive Stephen King collection, also Terry Pratchett. I enjoy reading most horror, thrillers, some scifi, fairly well-rounded. Nothing too techi. A few of my favorite books include Strange Ritual by David Byrne, The Shining by Stephen King, The Hot Zone by Richard Preston, Silence of the Lambs by Thomas Harris...
Heroes
My heroes are individuals that I highly regard and respect as unique, interesting, artistic, and creative, as are the characters, images, designs, and sounds they create and portray (not in any particular order)... Leon Theremin, Clara Rockmore, David Byrne, Dr. Seuss, Stephen King, Vincent Price, Paul Klee, Pre Raphaelites (all of them), M.C. Escher, Frank Lloyd Wright, Modigliani, Bruce Campbell, Andy Kaufman, Cory McAbee, Stan Ridgway, oh, and the Dude.

About me:
Hi, I'm Cookie, aka Michele Heile, Portland-based graphic and web designer, percussionist, and theremin player.
I'm a VW ownin, snake charmin, kitsch lovin, fondu-in, photographin, music playin, lamp collectin, funky junky.
I play Theremin in WaveSauce, instrumental pulp, surf, spy-fi band. WaveSauce was created by myself and Pete Vercellotti, also of Pale Blue Sky [aka "my sweetie"].
Our act Panhandle Pete and Cookie - imagine a long, dark highway stretching out through the Southwest desert. Featuring guitar and the haunting sounds of the theremin, this duo performs country standards that set the soundtrack for a spaghetti western directed by David Lynch.
I've been playing percussion with Jesus Presley for many years and sit in with a handful of other bands from time to time.
Design work includes: print graphics, photography, and web design for the music industry; CDs, DVDs, websites, photography, posters, business cards, ads, etc. Band clients include Sally Tomato, Carlos Severe Marcelin, Jesus Presley, SweetJuice, Too Big World, Honest American Thought, Floating Pointe, and more. I also design logos, brochures, wedding invitations, promotional packages, just about anything.
WaveSauce received radio play thanks to Clint Beachwood, "A Day at the Beach", KCR College Radio in San Diego. Clint played Lost Semaphore.
Dale Cast played Black Cat Strut. Dale Cast is a Podcast music show from Frosterly, United Kingdom. This is all very exciting.
Five New Songs - Go give a listen.

Sorry to miss that show-- of course JP is one of my fave bands ever; have only heard of El Vez, but Los Straitjackets!!!???? One of the greatest bands to ever play the Ghost!

"Ticklin' The Strings" by Sweet Hollywaiians
Amazing Japanese hot string band playing 1920's, 30's, 40's style hawaiian, swing, calypso, blues, italian music and originals, featuring vintage instruments.3 songs with Robert Armstrong and Tony Marcus(from Robert Crumb and His Cheap Suit Serenaders)
"The Sweet Hollywaiians have probably the best feel for this 20's music of any string band working today. They manage the rare feat of sounding relaxed even when their playing is hot, are top notch musicians with tasteful arrangements and a full, rich, warm sound.Plus, they have a nice gamut of tunes, from King Nawahi to Giovanni Vicari to Bobby Leecan. See them live, if you can, for an unforgettable experience. If you can't, buy their Cds!" ~ Terry Zwigoff
