   About The No-Net World
"In a sea of mimics this poet is an original voice." Doug Holder, Ibbetson Street Press

ABOUT THE NEW CD EXORCISM
"Larissa Shmailo does not think small. On Exorcism, she is trying to do nothing less than exorcise the demons of human evil...While this is the overarching theme of the Exorcism (and it is, for the most part, a powerful and effective theme), it is not all that is going on on this CD. There are a number of individually powerful poems here, such as “The Gospel According to Magdalene,” “Bloom,” and “Abortion Hallucination.” They all fit, some tightly, some loosely, into the larger theme, but also stand well on their own." ---G. Murray Thomas, Poetix

"The whole CD digs, though, bringing forth fiery, unorthodox, visceral imagery of the Devil and Magdalena, lovers and torturers and survivors. She crafts breath, rhythm, and rhyme, with a relaxed and dancerly demeanor and natural authority. Subtle music accompaniment and vocal multitracking. Highly recommended." --- Anne Elliott

EXORCISM is now available at http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/shmailo2, on ITunes and online at your favorite store.

ABOUT THE NO-NET WORLD CD

The No-Net World
Description: Poetry CD with music by Bobby Perfect
Label: SongCrew Records 2006
Publisher: Eggplant Press ISBN 0-935060-01-4.
Awards: "Quantum Love Remix 2008" won the 2008 New Century Awards for best spoken word track. "Madwoman" was nominated for the 2007 New Century Awards in the category of Best Spoken Word Track.

SELECTED REVIEWS OF THE NO-NET WORLD
From THEPEDESTALMAGAZINE.com: Larissa Shmailo's...poems also crackle with breathtaking language. Shmailo's expert understanding of the close relationship between poetry and drama, music and language, and the primal human need to just hear a really, really good story make The No-Net World a truly unique contribution to twenty-first century American poetry, and a CD worth listening to frequently and carefully.

From LITKICKS.COM: "Larissa Shmailo has compiled some of her best work in her new poetry CD, The No-Net World. The No-Net World is a solid collection of Shmailo's intensity, heart and wit. Her poetry is careful, considered, yet powerful... The No-Net World takes you on one woman's tour of the globe, combining stark reality with lush hope. I recommend that you go along for the ride.

From BOOG CITY: "Larissa Shmailo ...really knows how to write, how to read, how to present her poetry. She is masterful in the wonderfully rhythmic "Johnny I Love You Don't Die"...Shmailo's album is thoughtful, entertaining, and bears repeated listens."

From POETIX.COM:"'How My Family Survived the Camps,' [IS] the strongest, the most important poem here. . . In it she describes the combination of luck and ingenuity that enabled her family to survive the Holocaust. The key poem on the CD, it gives by far the best realization of her running theme, that how we react to what happens to us is as important as the events themselves."

From NEW CENTURY: Larissa Shmailo- her poem "Madwoman" with guitar on the track is pretty rad- if this isn't a Urban AntiFolk poet who is? Some of these posers just make like they've got street cred but this woman has walked on the wildside and now she lives to tell us about it.

ABOUT LARISSA SHMAILO
Larissa has been published in Barrow Street, Drunken Boat, Fulcrum, About: Poetry, Rattapallax, Big Bridge, Naropa's We, Lungfull!, and many other publications. Her poetry CD, The No-Net World, has been heard around the world. Larissa has received Critic's Picks notices for her readings and radio appearances from the New York Times, Village Voice, Maud Newton, and Time Out magazine. Larissa translated the Russian Futurist opera Victory over the Sun which was performed at the first Next Wave Festival at the Brooklyn Academy of Music and internationally; a DVD of the original English-language production is part of the collection of the New York Museum of Modern Art. She recently contributed translations to the anthology Contemporary Russian Poetry (Dalkey Archive Press) .Her chapbook, A Cure for Suicide, is available from Cervena Barva Press. She is proud to be a director of TWiN Poetry (myspace.com/twinpoetry) and TWiN East Coast, informal collectives of spoken word artists and their listeners.

Larissa, May this weekend bring you peace, creativity, and happiness…

Dear Wisdom Speaker,
Pleasure to meet you !

Paths cross and bridges grow, no doubt,
Meanwhile, you might want to know what
This Slamophone trip is about.

It all started with the idea
Poetry's too live, too diverse,
each syllable - unsellable,
every ephemerical verse
being too fierce to be coerced
Speech is the one right we have left
Tongue slamming, spinning,
tables turning,
and France cannot be left for deaf.

So with a camera in hand,
we've taken the country by storm
videalistic is the spirit,
originality the norm.
We started out with 50 vids,
now we are up to 360,
from Montreal down to Marseille,
from Pointe-à-Pitre to Gai Paree.

Take any door and come on in.
Be curious, you will be served :
360 clips around our way,
360 clicks around the word …

Come On In
