Bio
.. ...... .. From the far flung reaches of Tasmania The No No's formed in August 2005 with two things in mind - to have fun, and to make music they wanted to hear. The band split in June 2009 when David quit the band to follow his own musical pursuits. Putting a label to their style proved hard, as their diverse influences and range of style means that they’re a hard one to pigeon hole. The No No’s music is a potent cocktail containing a good dose of rock-a-billy, a strong splash of 70’s psychobilly punk rawkousness, a drop of rock’n’roll roots, a twist of horror and the macabre, a squirt of spaghetti western, topped up with a healthy taste of 60’s greasy garage punk and hot and spicy surf rock. Most notable influences include Melbourne's hard touring Rockabilly band Wild Turkey, The Exotics and Intoxica, veteran Psychobilly style setters The Cramps, 70s punk, 60's Surf and Garage rock. Thrown into the mix is the love of a good bit of twang and an insatiable taste for everything that's creepy and crawly. In the three and a half years they were around they left an undeniable dent in the Australian music scene. They proved to be Tasmania’s most popular and hardest working band, sold out local venues, played close to 400 shows and developed a massive following. This has in turn created a local interest in the genre that helped usher in a number of similar styled bands in Hobart. The No No’s have received widespread media exposure, and have played alongside a diverse range of well known acts such as Mental As Anything, The Detonators, Custom Kings, Zombie Ghost Train, The JacKnives, The Rum Jacks, The Go Set, 67’ Special, Fire Bird, OffCutts, Sydney City Trash, Six Ft. Hick, The Angels and Japanese transgender Rockabilly band Ikochi. Along with the great support slots The No No’s have played well known festivals Greazefest in Brisbane and most recently the Adelaide Kustom Kulture Weekender where they were described as "the most exciting and outstanding act of the festival". Over the last few years The No No’s have played a dozen shows in Melbourne, Geelong, a NSW tour, as well as covering all corners of Tasmania. In June 2007 saw the successful self release of their debut e.p “Get Off Ya Heads With... The No No’s” which resulted in radio air play all over the World, from London, Canada, Chicago, to California, and all across Australia. In 2008 The No No’s won the category for Tasmania’s Amplified music industry awards for “Best Live Performance”. Late 2007 they were selected from hundreds of Tasmanian acts to play the Marion Bay Falls Festival, where they shared the Main Stage with the likes of Kings of Leon, Groove Armada, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, and Blackalicious. In 2008 saw The No No's win the ABC Amplified music industry award for "Best Live Performance" and most recently won the best "punk/hardcore" award in 2009. In 2008 The No No’s were featured in the sound track of one of the most hotly anticipated Australian skate videos of all time - Volcom’s “Let’s Live” which was released internationally, as well as Melbourne skate video “Capture The Moment”. Late 2009 The No No’s song “Hot Rod From Hell” will be post humorously featured on Dingo Records compilation “It’s A Gas” which will be released Internationally. The No No’s credit their popularity to their original sound which transgressed music genres, not taking themselves too seriously, and the ability to inspire fun and happiness. The Sky Rockats are having some Cd launches for our third
album of all original rockabilly flavoured tracks, born from the South

water...Cooper's Stout and the odd Red, to extract their creative
juices; ready to blow your dancing shoes off! Come on! Come and light
the fuse for their new album; "Space Girl." One in Warrnambool, then
the Ferntree Gully in Melbourne; before we head to Wintersun in Queensland for the Long Weekend in June.
