The Oblivious Humans are a grunge rock band based out of Portland, TN. TOH began 4 years ago with it's original members Jay Cathcart, Jacob Basham, and Josh Harris. After a year they all set out on their separate ways to pursue their own musical careers. After a year Jay Cathcart and Josh Harris started the band again with new guitar player Blake Briley. They soon reunited with their old guitar player Jacob Basham. Blake left the band to pursue his own career. And thats when The Oblivious Humans found Teddy Roberts. Teddy fit into the band perfectly and soon The Oblivious Humans began writing. Creating such songs as I Won't Be, You've Got A Gun, and Sloth. Soon after Josh Harris left the band to move to Dover, TN. The Oblivious Humans were left without a drummer and 3 weeks to prepare for their debut show at Lyrix. Thats when they met their new drummer Nick Edwards. Nick came into the band and along with Jacob added a little edge to the music. The Oblivious Humans began writing again this time the songs were a little more grungy and hard. The Oblivious Humans added many songs to their list with Nick, writing songs such as Lost In Forever, Kingdom Of Dirt, Stumpgrind, Victim To Your Kiss, and their hit song "ROT". With a few shows and a growing fan base under their belts The Oblivious Humans began recording their first EP. It was entitled When We Were Creatures and featured 3 songs. Nick left the band for a short amount of time do to personal issues. At this point The Oblivious Humans had began making a name for themselves around Middle Tennessee. They were featured on 102.9 The Buzz they had played some of the biggest venues in Nashville, and they were receiving huge amounts of support from their local fans. They were soon introduced to Jason Uselton (Former drummer of Fuel). With Jason in the band The Oblivious Humans began to grow even more. They won the Gorilla Productions Battle Of The Bands,Advanced through the first 3 rounds of the Bodog Battle Of The Bands, and wrote one of their biggest songs entitled I Shot A Man. The Oblivious Humans were going far with Jason as their new drummer, however it ended abruptly when Jason shot himself in the foot with a shotgun. The Oblivious Humans have been hard at work in the past few months. They have joined with Chad Carpenter the new bass player and have made a few changes. They have recorded their new Album "A Beautifully Lethal Dose" with new producer Curtis Erdek who has been wounderful to work with. The Oblivious Humans have tons of things lined up for the fans this year. We will be at The Wildhorse Saloon,The Rutledge,Exit In and of corse all the great festivals including the summer rockfest in Portland,TN. So be sure to come out and enjoy some shows with them. They look forward to seeing you all.
