Hakkımızda The October Game (NEW SONGS, PHOTOS & LAYOUT!!!!)
We come from the beautiful sleepy wooden suburbs of Bedfordshire. We are four friendly young fellows that write songs inspired by nature, books, films, music, art and our experiences. We take elements of post-rock, folk and ambience to create a unique form of quintessentially English alternative rock music.
We released our first album ‘Box Of A Billion Lights’ in 2006 through our own independent label, Carmandie Records.
We have toured extensively throughout the UK as well as making short trips to Iceland and the Czech Republic and we recently played our biggest headline show to date at the stunning Bush Hall in west London.
We are a band bound through our friendship and love of making music together, our main hope for the future is that we can continue to write music together and continue to travel so that our music can reach more and more people as time goes on. Owen says that to be on the front of cereal boxes one day would also be pretty cool!
The road to here has provided us with much happiness between the insanely late nights, blistered fingers and broken down vehicles on the M6 and we have some very sweet memories of what have accomplished so far. Here are just a few things that instantly strike a chord in our memories:
- Setting up our gear in the road and playing our songs for a 5000 strong crowd outside the Sudanese Embassy in London as part of the worldwide Day For Darfur, campaigning to stop the violence in Sudan.
- Getting up at 5am to hear our first play on BBC Radio 1 courtesy of our good friends at CUR1350 who were broadcasting on the station after winning the top prize at the student radio awards.
- Seeing we'd made the national press whilst sitting having breakfast at a friends house in Reykjavik, Iceland, after which we went for our first interview on Icelandic Radio.
- Our first interview on national radio in the UK with Tom Robinson of BBC6 Music. He confessed that our song Concrete (When We Were Invincible) was one of his favourite tracks of the year. “Every now and then a track grabs you right from the get go and touches you on a deeper emotional level – from the killer groove, the intertwining guitars to the heartfelt vocal, I love this song”
We will be releasing a new single 'Greenbacks' on Monday 18th January 2010 followed by our new album on Monday 22nd February 2010. Our new album is called Wildblood. It was mostly recorded and produced at our homes with us doing some additional recording and mixing with our good friend Jordan Fish at his lovely Studio 91 facility in Newbury. The album was mastered by Frank Arkwright (The Smiths, Arcade Fire, Gomez, Belle & Sebastian) at Metropolis Studios in London.
You can find us on iTunes and all other major digital download outlets and you can purchase our music online from www.carmandierecords.com Our track ‘Concrete (When We Were Invincible) is currently available as a free download from our official website www.theoctobergame.com
At the end of 2008 we started a monthly multi arts night called Fuzzy Face. Born through a love of storytelling and cosy country pubs its a night filled with all things leftfield and wonderful where people enjoy the best in cutting edge art from across the fields of music, theatre, poetry, dance, art & film, all set in the gorgeous ballroom at The Sun Hotel in Hitchin.
We hope you enjoy the music, see you soon

As you may or may not be aware
SoundARC hold a charity gig every year at Club 85 in Hitchin in aid of the
Garden House Hospice in Letchworth, and this year we are going to try something
a little different from previous years.
This year we are going to take over the club and
host 37 acts in one weekend putting full bands upstairs and acoustic acts
downstairs in an event that we are calling ARCfest!
It all starts on Friday 4th December at 7pm and
then continues on through Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th from 12pm-11pm
As well as raising money for the Garden House
Hospice in Letchworth, ARCfest will showcase all the different genres of bands
that we at SoundARC have come across over the last 4 and a half years. Over
this weekend a lot of the acts that you will see don’t get a chance to play a
great local venue like Club 85, So as well as hearing new music you will see
all manors of genres and styles from acoustic - Metal - Indie - Rock - Punk -
Electro - Ska - Funk - Hip Hop/Rap - Alternative - Rhythm & Blues - Reggae
- Grunge and loads more that I cant remember!
I was just wondering if I'd seen a better line up this year than Friday's... And I honestly don't think I have! So I'll probably be seeing you there, then! :)
