The Odd Meters are a unique, instrumental duo whose music blends various genres into compelling modern compositions. Their high-energy performances can include styles such as Jazz, Afro-Cuban, Pop, Fusion, Reggae, Indian Classical, and Funk. The mixture they create takes their audiences of young and old on the same musical journey around the world. The majority of the bands’ tunes are original, written by guitarist Jon Morrow and fused with the explosive yet graceful touch of Shane Parreco on drums and percussion. Although the Odd Meters are a duo, they have the sound of a trio thanks to the 8-string guitar (created by Ralph Novak) that Jon plays. This allows them to easily add guest artists to their performances.
Although the band has been performing for one year and is relatively new; members Shane Parreco and Jon Morrow have plenty of touring and industry experience with previous projects. Morrow and Parreco can both be heard on WNCW 88.7 (Spindale, NC) with their other groups. Morrow has performed with his previous group (the Galen Kipar Project) in many venues up and down the east coast as well as in Colorado, Wyoming, and Montana. Parreco took to the road in 2004 as the Tour Manager for Peter Mayer (Jimmy Buffet) whose group traveled all over the country. Parreco has also made guest appearances as a percussionist with legendary musicians Steve Kimock, Jeff Coffin, Peter Mayer, Jim Mayer and Jeff Sipe. Equipped with all the musical experience they each have, the Odd Meters are prepared to take their music on the road to share with a larger audience.
These two characters met in 2003 at Brevard College, where they found each other learning from the same primary teachers: Dr. Laura Franklin (percussion) and Jeff Sipe (drums/rhythm concepts). Both Morrow and Parreco were able to gain a deeper level of understanding music from their studies and quickly became great friends because of their mutual enthusiasm for various styles music. These two unique musicians share a similar musical vocabulary, a desire to always be inspired and challenged, and a passion for making and sharing live music.

I can't count the number of times when serious critics of our social system would say to me: Why can't we come up with a vision of what a good society would be like? This is what Parecon: Life After Capitalism boldly does in and the result is an imaginative, carefully reasoned description, persistently provocative, of how we might live free from economic injustice.
